If nuclear war broke out where's the safest place on Earth?

I think outer space is the most safest place if nuclear was used and explode on earth. Donald trump must contact aliens and make an arrange to transfer humans to other planet. 

This far to happened ATM. I think all nation know what will be the outcome if they start a nuclear war. All nation will suffer and there will be no victor if next world war occur

In general, away from industrialized, populated areas. Try unpopulated mountainous areas for valleys where you can grow your own food. Oceans (small islands) might be good, for fish and ocean plant food, if you can find a reasonable source of water.

I'm sure you know in second world war the nuclear bomb dropped on two Japanese cities (Hiroshima and Nagasaki). Japan destroyed by several years due to the impact of nuclear radiation. Current nuclear bombs have exploded more than 70 megatonnes of TNT. If a nuclear war that would be fatal for the life of the world. The resulting radiation would kill so many people. I think there is no safe place for sure the whole place will be affected by the radiation will be very big. So that nuclear war should not happen in the world.

We must find neutral countries, with sufficient defenses + you would need to buy some basements and food stash etc. 

I was thinking Switzerland but they're in the heart of Europe, where it's too risky, radiation spreads easily

Madagascar is a good option, no strong rivals who would have someone to bomb nearby

If a nuclear war broke out, there ain't a safe place here on earth except on the underground deep below. It will just be safe for around a minute or so and after that, I think it will not be safe. I really do hope that nuclear war won't happen in the near and far future since surviving this kind of war seems like a very hard thing to do, if this happens all living things on earth might be extinct or destroyed. We might survive it but what about the food and water afterwards, there will be a shortage for sure.

You are correct...there would be no safe place if nuclear war will finally happen between nuclear-carrying nations. Most probably if you can find a very remote small island that may not be found on the map then mostly it can be safe for humans. Nuclear war will be the final act humanity would do to extinguish himself. Will it happen? Yes, it will as there is no man-made weapon that was never used in the history of man.

Easter Island in the South Pacific would be one of the safest places on Earth as the article suggests and I agree with that. I'm wondering whether people are already buying real estate there. After a nuclear war the Earth would be a bad place to live anyway so let's hope that will never happen.

In the event of nuclear war there will be people who will not be affected by this madness. Environmental issues touch the whole earth. In addition, modern people can't live without the benefits of civilization.

well nuclear war is going to be a whole lot different from what we had during the 2 previous world wars. in the previous wars you can go to a neutral country like up extreme north or extreme south and you'd be spared the horror. i don't think that would be even closely the same if a nuclear war would start. i don't think there would be any place that will be safe or anyone as the damage it would cause would be Armageddon  level. it would affect everyone everywhere and there won't be any place we can go to to avoid it. so hopefully the leaders of all our nations would somehow find it important that it's not worth having a nuclear war for any reason at all.

I'm pretty sure that a nuclear Apocalypse does not threaten us. No leader will not go to the destruction of their country. Also, I bet that even if you give the order to launch missiles first military themselves will block start.

There is no place to hide from a nuclear winter. If you were smart enough to horde food and water and hide well you still have to worry about the radioactive crap in the atmosphere. Then when you run out of food and water you'll have to use the radioactive water and plant crops in radioactive soil. I don't think this is a survivable event. The human race and many animal species will disappear. It could be 100,000 years before earth could recover and start the whole evolution thing over again.

When America was a power failure it was horrible! Imagine how you will live on a remote island without any creature comforts? What will you have? Where is the guarantee that water will not bring radiation is not an island?

Even if we assume that there will be a lot of land for agricultural production, what to do with radioactive fallout? A nuclear winter? In such conditions it is impossible to grow crops. Where are you going to take an agricultural instrument?

I don't think that the radiation fallout will reach Antarctica. Also, the ice sheets are some 2,000 meters thick in some places. So establishing a subterranean base in that continent may be the best way to stay alive during the WW3.

I don't think that Chile will be a safe place, as it is a major country in the Latin America. They will be participating in the world war, unlike the small Pacific nations such as Tuvalu. Fiji is also having agreements with the NATO.

Well I don't think there would be any planet left in that case. There still could be some islands here and there unaffected by the nuclear war and some people that took shelter there.

In the case of a global nuclear war will be no winners. And to hide or escape from the consequences also fail. I think it would be better if the topic was about how to do so on earth ever could happen is a nuclear war.

Even if we assume that there will be a lot of land for agricultural production, what to do with radioactive fallout? A nuclear winter? In such conditions it is impossible to grow crops. Where are you going to take an agricultural instrument?

If there is wide-spread radioactive fallout, then I am afraid that agricultural production needs to be moved underground. Now this require artificial lighting and electricity. And once again, nuclear energy will come in to play.
