Hard to pick just one but if I had to, I'd go with Slayer (not hard judging by my avatar) - up to and including Seasons In The Abyss, especially. RIP Jeff Hanneman!
Nice. Slayer rock
hard. I don't know if I could name a favourite band, I go through stages of enjoying very different styles of music, some of them bands and some of them more like electronic producers.
I'm totally into a French producer called Igorrr right now, he fuses elements of baroque classical music, black metal, and electronic breakcore to create some absolutely insane music. It's pretty, um, out there... but amazing stuff. He's also releasing a new album in the next couple of months.
One of his earlier tracks, "Tendon", pretty mental (especially the ending):

They are a sort of "extreme metal" band from the UK, with elements of black, death, gothic and thrash metal. Many tracks about vampires and mythical demons etc, very silly but they don't take themselves too seriously and some of the lyrics are very well written.
One of my favourite tracks by them is "Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids" - youtube vid with lyrics:

Here is there newest album:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z30CFPklA8Q, I absolutely love the track "Dirt" at around 8.10, but the whole album is an amazing journey and worth listening to from beginning to end.
Another good synthwave producer is Mitch Murder (who made most of the soundtrack to Kung Fury), here is one of my favourite tracks "In The News":

Edit: Oh yeah I forgot about Kraftwerk, those guys fucking rock! Radioactivity live, absolute synth and visual sickness...
