I just moved my 7770 to another computer and have noticed my hash rate go from 185 to 205 with the exact same clock speed.

Only difference is the new pc has an SSD instead of HDD and it is using PCI 3.0 instead of PCI 2.0 (the cpu/motherboard are also different but this would have no impact, both are modern computers)

Is it the pci 3.0 that has increased the mhash/s by 10 percent? I see no other possibility. The graphics card was using the same drivers and set to same speed in msi afterburner.

Being a noob myself, it could be PCI 2 v 3.

Other options:

could it be temperatures? I have 2 identical cards in my PC that have a 200 M/h difference due to one getting hotter and having to self-throttle.

How long has this hash rate been improved? Could it just be fluctuation?

I've been wondering about getting a motherboard with 3 pci express ports, and whether or not I can get a motherboard with a mix of x16 x8 x8 slots, or if I should spend more on one that offers 3 x16 slots, of if it doesen't even matter, so long as they are all pci express 3.0 slots.

It's running 6 degrees hotter in the new pc as the case has very poor airflow so heat is not the cause. If I take the side panel off the temp lowers to how it was before but no difference in hash rate. Stays at 205 instead of 185. I'm pretty sure its the pci 3.0. Using a couple of watts less as well as I got a better power supply with higher efficiency.
