Just an update here -- We did end up going and we took 14th place of the 400 teams there. The only reason we didn't do better is because our bot fell from a 9' tall pyramid which mangled up our shooter quite a bit and made us have two zero point matches. Considering that, I'm pretty impressed with 14th
Thanks to all who made it happen; it was a fantastic experience!
Hey fellow Bitcoiners,
My robotics team, as of two hours ago, has committed to attend the 2013 World FRC robotics competition in St. Louis, Missouri! For those of you familiar with the program, you know that this is both a huge commitment and opportunity. If you don't know what FIRST (For Inspiration of Science and Technology) is, I encourage you to check out
http://www.usfirst.org/roboticsprograms/frcThe majority of our team is Seniors (12th grade students), so this is our last chance to attend this awesome event. This event is being coordinated entirely by the students (chiefly myself and one other) on the team, and all contributions are GREATLY appreciated! We need to raise just under $15,000 in the next two weeks.
We've done extraordinarily well at the two regionals we've attended this year, and have been asked repeatedly to attend worlds because of our outstanding performance. Here's a video from our Spokane regional that took place on this last Saturday. We are team 3145, the TeraViks!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67n8G2JNfi8Oddly enough, we took 2nd place in both regionals. Portland having 61 teams, and Spokane having 41 teams, it's safe to say we're a pretty solid team
Please check out our campaign at:
http://teravikstostlouis.org/ (of course, bitcoin donations are accepted. There's a link toward the bottom of the page.) My promise to you (I can say this because I manage the funds) is that any and all funds donated to the team will be used entirely in the team's best interest.
If you cannot contribute personally, I would sincerely appreciate you spreading word of our team to those that might want to.
Thank you all!
