Almost back up for now.
Looking into future mitigation, etc..

We have been hit many times before, nothing really affected it, this one was a professionally large load.

Hey, what actually causes the DDOS attack and who generally does it? Is it some individual who can do this and is it done purposefully or so?

I think if not mistaken even Unocoin was down due to this type of attack couple of months before.

Hope nothing went wrong in the process for Coinsecure today.

Got a mail asking for 10 BTC or they will attack with more power.
Someone basically blocks traffic to a website, so legitimate users cannot go through.

Nothing went wrong, we had to change some things around. Had a bit of downtime.
Came back a lot stronger though.

good job @coinsecure team!
Every exchange experience these kinds of attacks at one point or another. The attackers are getting better and so should we. Even 2 Factor authentications are not safe.  Hopefully we will find a fool proof security system in the future, that is as secure as the block-chain itself.

So basically you could file a police complaint for extortion and if you are lucky enough they might catch them. These sort of exortion DDos must be dealt with seriously as this has become a trend lately and soon as you receive the mail you must inform your hosting provider as well as your customers and good to see that you mitigated to cloudflare.
