Hello I have on rig with a 7990. It is an amazing card but at cm 9.1 I am getting 95c and 72c of tempeture...
I have undervolted the card to get this at 1050mv with afterburner.

Does anyone knows why the card is so hot?

Try intensity of 2 ,3 or 4

My hd7990s always had overheating issues when pushed.

as they will be out of warranty i would re-apply good quality thermal paste to the chips - at least min 10degrees cooler u will see

have they been used before for other intensive mining? what brand are they?

my MSI's 7990's get around 410-420 run around 70-80 at no more than 60% fan

I ripped the nonsense MSI triple fan unit off and zip tied 2x Yate Loon 140mm fans to the heat sink.

I now mine at 71c and does not go any higher.

You can do this with any high static pressure fans

You ran at I=2 3 or 4?

I have 2 7990 and if i put intensity above 1 it will eventually crash?

Am I missing something?

I have 1500w PSU, 8gb ram, 20gb virtual 2 x 7990 & 2 x 7950

You need to undervolt and under clock further. I run my 7990 at 360 total and they are much cooler then.

Basically what everybody said here before. You first clean the fans, make sure the bearings aren't shot, make sure the thermal paste is new and fresh.

If this issue continues then you have an issue with your VMRs.

set corevoltage to 1120(try also lower but stability problems can appear) (clock-1090, emory m- 1415 i think, power limit 0 - (-5) , our 7990 running safe on 1120 78-82C, or buy some regular external fan , if it won't help set -li 4 and higher when using claymore miner

try using only the 7990 with this psu.

maybe it is a psu problem
