Hi folks!

I am kind of new to mining bitcoins and I have stumbled upon an odd error when configurating GUIMiner.

Graphics card: GeForce GT560 Ti
Software: GUIMiner

Disclaimer: I know that Nvidia isn't preffered when mining bitcoins but the purpose is to get the hang of it before investing my student capital in bitmining.

I have registered myself to slush's pool and I have recieved my credentials and entered those into GUIMiner. I have also connected my account on slush's with my wallet.

When I am creatuing a new miner (CUDA) I cannot start mining! I press the button "Start" but nothing happens. No text. Nothing.

Can anyone please share their valuable time and help me with this problem as I myself have gotten quite stuck to say the least. If there is anything that is in need of clarifying please let me now!

Best regards,

Lookup CUDAminer. It is for litecoin by default, but you can change it.   This is designed for NVIDIA and will autoconfig for you.

It is based off of CGminer

yeah cuda miner will get you the best results or cgi miner but you should try lite coin with that setup. your hash rates will be super bad with anything nvidia if your use it to try and mine for bit coin. it is said lite coin will soon be accepted by many major merchants so i would do that if i were you.

Thanks for the quick response!

Alright I will look into those softwares and I'll be in touch if it doesn't work out!

But you are able to exchange litecoins for usd at the moment right?
I am a bit confused, does my hash rates improve whith Nvidia while mining for litecoin or does it not take as much time before getting some coins?

CudaMiner is pretty awesome.  Just make sure to calculate power consumption since nvidia dont has as well it might not even be worth your time.  That being said, where I live power is .09 /kwh and even though I only get 140 khash (gtx 670) I still am in the positive on the current difficulty.

I have now downloaded and fired up CUDAMiner (rpcminer-cuda.exe) but I am being greeted with this text:

"Could not retrieve work from RPC server."

What's wrong, and how or in what file can I write the address to the pool as well as the port number and my credentials?

Drkrills: Yeah, I'll surely keep that in mind!

That isn't cudaminer Smiley

This is: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=167229.0

real simple to use.

Open up command prompt to the directory for cudaminer

then do  cudaminer.exe -o server:port -O username:password

it will autotune your card for you

If you're doing bitcoin you'll need to change it with -a and specify SHA256

Wow, thank you so much for your help!

I am now up and running. There seems to be two choices of algorithms to use; sha256d and SHA-256D. What is the difference between these?

I'm not familiar enough with these to know what type of algo they use. If they use the same algo then yes.

cudaminer is also available in GUIMiner. Just create a new Miner in GUIMiner and choose Cudaminer. By the way you could be that you are getting errors or something and your shares are getting rejected. What hashrate are you getting?
