Best Bitcoin exchanges

Where are the more reputable Bitcoin exchanges today?  Any in the US or Canada?  (I haven't had an exchange account since the time of Mt. Gox's debacle.)

not much has changed among exchanges, there are more of them with lots more users. also there are regulations and IRS looking into them but they are still getting hacked and sometimes run away.

with that said take a look at kraken i have heard good things about it.

there are also bitfinex, bitstam, cex.io and the good old btc-e still at work

I assume your getting ready to sell your coins, just make sure the exchange you pick has all your private information they need before you send your bitcoins.
You want to get your money as fast as possible, its just so god dam risky to keep any money on a bitcoin exchange.


Get in, get out as fast as you can, Exchanges have a bad habit of getting "hacked" right as the price starts hitting all time highs.

Also be ready to scan and fax all kinds of obscure paperwork. They might ask for utility bills and ID's and work permits and W2 forms and just all kinds of weird shit.

Also If you live in the US and you use a US based exchange they are now forced to report all transactions to the IRS. So... yeah.

I wouldn't use an exchange that asks for real info myself and you shouldn't too as some exchange may end up with the same case as coinbase with IRS , so I really recommend trading with individuals on the forums or using some Peer to peer platforms such as Bitsquare

I personally make use of Bitstamp and Kraken for quite some time now, and never have I had even a single complaint about how they operate.

Both are trusted and well respected exchanges in this industry. Please avoid dealing with altcoin exchanges offering a BTC/USD trading option.

Not that they would do any harm to you, but you know, better safe than sorry. Especially when you plan to cash out or deposit serious amounts.

If there is alternatives then I don't see why would anyone use this website and take risks instead of known and legit services.

I think coinbase is the best exchange for the peoples from USA and Canada, it is save be used and there are no hacking problem on there is like mt.gox, although yea there are problem between coinbase and IRS about the datas member of coinbase and about taxes of bitcoins on USA.
But for security of markets coinbase can be trusted, I guess.

The title or The Best Bitcoin Exchange is very arbitrary. Some have better security, but worse KYC policies, some requires you to upload verification to conduct any type of activity, others not.

Some highly reputable exchanges at this point:

- Kraken - "Founded in 2011, San Francisco-based Kraken is the largest Bitcoin exchange in euro volume and liquidity and also trading Canadian dollars, US dollars, British pounds and Japanese yen."
- BitStamp - British Exchange, First fully licensed bitcoin exchange.
- BitPanda (EU only) - They are accepting directly Neteller and Skrill.
- Coinbase - you can use other payment methods to buy bitcoin here - they are accepting PayPal.
- Gemini - New York based exchange , operating under BitLicense, very secure but at the same they would ask you to provide sample of your DNA as part of their KYC policy.

As other users have stated here, Kraken or Bitstamp are currently the most popular bitcoin exchanges. The former has plenty of Canadian users too but only accepts wire / SEPA deposits, while the latter is currently the best bitcoin exchange in the UK and Europe - and accepts credit cards.

Alternatively Coinbase would be the easiest exchange to use, in terms of the UI, buying, and withdrawing. Though some users report long customer service reply times, and temporary account freezes. I would still recommend this service to any new users in the US, Canada, UK, or Europe. They accept bank transfers, visa, mastercard, and users in the USA can withdraw small amounts through PayPal.

Should you like to get technical, I would recommend trying Bitsquare. It's a new decentralized p2p exchange which is becoming quite successful. To use it you'll have to download the client software and watch a few youtube tutorials, but once you're comfortable with using it you'll be considered an expert!

If you want to buy directly of people in your area (Cananda, or anywhere in the world), then Localbitcoins would be a great bitcoin exchange to use (it's like a centralized website version of Bitsquare). You can buy btc with cash, SEPA transfer, and even PayPal.

There are several Bitcoin Exchangers working and most of them do provide bank withdrawals for US and Canada too.
The one I recommend is Coinbase, though reported negatively by many but still I am using it over 15 months with zero problem.
Whereas if we talk intra-cryptocurrencies exchanges, there are numerous alternatives such as Yobit, Cryptopia, etc providing seamless exchange experience.
