Hi guys i just recently saw the beta test of the new forum. Well, the design is quite good looking but the thing here is that i really don't feel moving into other forum. This current forum  IMO is much better. Even if i cannot do anything about it. I just wanted to raise a certain question. What was the primary objective of migrating?  Sorry but i really haven't seen the documents regarding with this.

The new forum software will be more secure and less hacky. Right now, Bitcointalk uses an old version of SMF with significant modifications. The new forum software will have these modifications built directly into the software so it is both more secure and performs better.

Thanks for that info sir. So basically it is all about security. Mind if I ask if you used bootstrap framework on the UI? Although it's good i find it laggy or this loads longer than the current forum especially if I do have a slower internet connection.

That is also a nice question. On the other hand since they release the beta test. I supposed that it is not that  so soon probably in my predictions it would be on the first or probably the longer was on the mid-quarter of 2017.

Furthermore, Information most come from the administrators or moderators

Thanks for that info sir. So basically it is all about security.
There are also some new features and usability upgrades. IIRC there will be new features that don't exist right now such as themes.

Mind if I ask if you used bootstrap framework on the UI? Although it's good i find it laggy or this loads longer than the current forum especially if I do have a slower internet connection.
I personally do not work on the new software. In fact, most of the staff don't. It is open source however and you can look at it at https://github.com/epochtalk/epochtalk

That, I do not know. That is up to Theymos to decide when to roll out the software for the main site.

That is great to hear that you will have your own software for the forum. After seeing this thread I though that you may upgrade to the latest version of SMF and at the same time I wondered that the new SMF have all the features of your forum. But after visiting the link I found that you will have your own developed script.

There is a question in my mind that will any other person be able to get that script from github and be able to use that script for creating their own forum? I love to get the features of your firum especially activity feature but it is impossible for me to get that Mod from any place.

Yes it is possible for you to download the software from Github and use it yourself. It is open source and licensed under the MIT license so you are allowed to do that and make whatever changes that you want.

P.S. It is not a script. It is a software. There is a huge difference.

There is no fixed or even an estimated date that I'm aware of. The answer is simply: very soon. You will be notified in time, so don't worry about it.

Also have my forum and I'm having a lot of spam post from bot using a simple machine forum, smf is not really a secured forum software, especially if your forum is growing,You will need a lot of modification to keep it secured and spam free.

I think that i spam free forum you were talking would really varies to the moderators. Btctalk is probably one of the biggest bitcoin forum and i personally dont know how many members this forum currently are. Although in terms of bots security i guess achow already did answer it

So if i got it right those numbers are currently active members? Thats pretty huge, that is why I never doubted why mods cant handle all the things that needs to be handled(although they are doing a good job)

Not active members...  that is the number of people that have registered and made at least one post.

If you want to give me a better definition of active members, I can give you a better number.  Smiley

10,712 users have logged on in the last week.  I don't track when they post.

I scrape the public information found here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=30747

I want to add trending, so you can see how your activity stacks up against others over time.  Useless information, but I hope to make a bit of coin with ads.

Interesting enough, almost 700,000 accounts were created on here with not a single post made.   Undecided

700k, 3x larger than the stats that you presented earlier. Hmm what are this guys are planning to do

The profiles themselves are the public data I am scraping.

I am going to analyze the data and publish it on a website off of martinlawrence.ca
