OK check out

EDIT HOW are users finding the DEV patch... is it working, do we have to wait until tomorrow to finds out???

It is still swinging about as far as I can SEE

I have looked at the exponential averaging

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exponential_smoothing

but I think we really need the "Triple exponential smoothing" version of it.....to work

I am also not across the exact nature of the 1/2 ing in 10 min blocktimes.

It still seems that BTE is ok relative to TRC as BTE had a HASH attack higher than TRC and it all went away after a few hours...not days.

IT may be that until asics are wide spread {cough cough BFL} that this may be a problem for all sha alt chains...

I just don't have the time right now to go over the whole code and maths.....it would take me a few goes to get a smoothing code out...and I suspect that this maybe what we are experiencing here....

-----

https://github.com/jubalix/terracoin-masterfork

Edit:: fixed up the commenting out of the material functions...

I have as best I can updated the main, I have taken out the BROKEN target system, and replaced it with the BTC one

this is in main.cpp

I have left all changes and commented my changes

(not the usual delete code, so you can see exactly what I am doing)

I had to delete the "ema" in the function call

Can some one try/check this

this should fix re-targeting

I would much appreciate Sunnyking or Tradefortresses input or any one else's input

Question I have is, if TRC uses this what makes it different from the more established coins BTC and LTC? Terracoin's difficulty adjustment is supposed to be it's unique selling point...

This is just an interim to make TRC stable while it is figure out what the timing should be...by the DEV

the TRC has a different payout rate as well...see DEVS info

Also BTE shows that Coming Closer to BTC is viable itself.

BTE is coming close to TRC in value and is only days old

I am only doing this as a temporary interim (unless the community decides to adopt it), because DEV would not.

spacegoat, how old are you? I'm trying to figure out how you haven't realized yet that no one cares about your idiotic trollcoin idea

you wouldn't understand.  it would be a meme based coin.  the epitome of open sourced intelligence.  troll-face would be the meme.  it would be the don't give a fuck coin that works the best... and is actually fun.  and not so technical on the face.  just wham bam easy. simple.  keep the technical stuff under the hood.

you could probably figure out why I am still stoked, if you saw the conversations going on in my inbox.  my original meme was kind of harsh.  but I've gotten some enthusiastic responses about the idea.  and I still like it so until you cut me down in a way that makes me even consider your opinion is valid I'm gonna continue running with it.  I have a vendetta of sorts.

............................

I'm learning about bte's retargetting and what I've found is that bte is still vulnerable to 51% attacks.

jubalix, it appears BTE recovered in 3 hours in comparison to TRC's 4-5 days, but its also a much smaller network, are we certain using btc's retargeting will solve this?  can we get more opinions on this, I am not familiar with forums, but sunny king and trade fortress seem to have coding legend status, if we could have them peer review your work jubalix,

I got nothing but energy, and I'll raise my class a bit and be more presentable with promoting the fork.

yeah baby yeah

If I recall correctly TRC had the equivalent of 6% of the Bitcoin network. I can't find my source for that, but thats what I remember.

more or less retired.

I understand completely. That's my whole point- the entire trollcoin idea reminds me of something an angry 15 year old would come up with over losing some money. I can empathize with the fact you lost half of your TRC equity, I lost a lot myself. The difference (I think) is I know alt coins are an extremely volatile market and I'm prepared to lose everything. I'm that confident my entry point is +EV.

I respect your ambition and energy, I just think it could be put to better use then trollcoin or whatever this meme idea is. Perhaps try to improve the original TRC and recoup some of your loses. I'd certainly appreciate that.

This seems like a good short term solution to fix TRC.

I hope everyone adopts this until the Dev can figure out a more permanent fix.

so still maddley going around

Anyway we have a patch here ready to go, if anyone needs it or at least the basis for people to uptake it if needed very quickly

so this acts as an insurance for TRC
