What would it take for us all to get together and support ONE digital currency ?

I wonder if you all have any ideas for our fractured sub-communities.

The way this all works right now is by requiring fresh blood to keep pouring in here.
Which in my view we are losing the battle with that.
And the more coins that come out the more we get stranded users trapped forever as bag-holders.

For 2017 i'd like to see us look past the 35 cents change profit on the table.
..and innovate.

Bitcoin is approaching 8 years old.. almost a decade.
If you all wanted to get an Altcoin established you had time to do it already.

Can we get our ducks in line ?
Or will we waffle along as big name companies swoop in and seize the opportunity we are squandering ?

Try and defend these various projects but at the end of the day it boils down to ADOPTION.
And it seems to me adoption takes a back seat to all your Poloniex shitcoin ROI's.

Want to move forward and make real progress ?
Every single one of us will have to make massive compromises and sacrifices.
Such as ? dropping support on a coin that has no realistic future.

If you are not moving forward then you are moving backwards people !

Which ONE currency are you talking about? dropping the support for how many coins? because it seems there are too many coins already for one person to be able to handle maintaining and managing them lol

Which one ?
Hmm good question, hadn't given it much thought.
How about Bitcoin ?  Cheesy

That is a tough one though.. right away i think ANON or not.
I don't see a whole lot of innovation in Altcoins.

It would be beneficial if the Govt's came out and responded to ANON coins though.
Users don't know where they stand on them with legality & regulations.
I say that because if they came out and pledged to destroy them basically
it may affect how many are buying into them here.

Not saying i have all the answers people.. i have few if any.
All i know is we are spinning our wheels going no where fast.

For example, who here thinks LEOcoin has some glorious future ?
Then we have users show up flogging it acting like shills.
When their efforts could clearly be put to better use.

Well for a FIAT currency to work you need one traditionally.

A while back i went into my bank and asked them if i could exchange some Mexican money.
That said no we don't do that sort of thing and the teller did not recall ever doing it.
I know they did like 20+ years ago.
Anyway, i sure as hell can not spend it at the store for Groceries.
(i threw the various small amounts in foreign currencies i had in the garbage)

People it's not about pretending these are "Penny Stocks"

Until you get out of that frame of mind we are screwed.
The exchanges should not even exist in the first place.

I said long ago i have no problem with that whole profiteer facade..
IF ..you all be honest about it.
Go ahead and create a new forum section and do it up.
Just quit pretending these are "Currencies" then.

Quit lying and spinning bullshit about currencies to perpetuate a gigantic collective pyramid scheme penny stocks ICO scam machine for profits.. all in the name of a currency ...."one day"

i have read about someone giving a good example about a possibile solution to the problem of the altcoin related to them dying so fast compared to bitcoin, due to pump and dump, he said that their the block reward should adapt to the volume on the exchange, therefore if the volume is big, the block reward will be higher, and if the volume is low the block rewrd will be lower so miners dump less and the coin will not be killed so easy
i really like this suggestion

I'll agree to support only one coin as long as its a coin I bought cheap and currently own a lot of.
Anyone want to make Burst worth $1 each? That would make me very happy, personally.  Grin

Realistically, no one will ever support just one coin.
Bitcoin will remain king for now, with several other coins like Monero and Ethereum fighting for second place.
Then you will have a wide variety of coins that are being developed but are only worth a few cents each.

Bitcoin has no realistic competition at all. If you look at the evolution of the BTC dominance over altcoins metric, you will see that the average is always a strong 80%, you can use coinmarketcap to see it, click on "BTC dominance" at the top right side of the page.

Thing is, no other coin comes close in development, and of course in network effect which is like 50% of the strenght of a currency or an asset, and that is going to take a ton of luck for someone to strike with some idea that makes bitcoin irrelevant. I don't see it happening. A lot of people talking shit, but no one backing it up. Bitcoin remains king.

It is not possible for all of us to support and develop one coin, the way human mind works is different from each other. People must innovate and be creative to bring about growth and development, if Bitcoin even cease to move with time I can see another digital currency surpassing it.

Agreed and to LanYu i say BTC.. for obvious reasons.
Why ? Regulations.
If BTC got govt approval and regulations it would be the death warrant for the others.
EXACTLY like how FIAT is approved and regulated.
You say it would take a NAZI regime to push it.
Well they had one currency right ? LOL
Although they did counterfeit a LOT of British pounds.. used a little.
Most of it was recovered from a deep lake bed many years later.
But spies used it occasionally in foreign countries.
Anyway LOL

It's up to the majority who is in control what happens.
I wish i had good solutions to make things better but i don't.
So i am stuck pointing out the problem.
Hence the topic asking you all what you think.
Believe it or not i highly value everyone's opinion on the internet.

What would it take? It would take a gun to peoples' heads.

Stop Mining.   Start Minting.   Mintcoin  [MINT]
5% annual minting reward. Mintcoins don't wear out like mining gear. They keep on minting!

Think of it this way.
Canada uses the Canadian dollar at EVERY store.
But we usually will accept the US dollar on par.

And the US uses their dollar.

All these countries focus heavily on one currency.
And i mean the general public.

So don't rattle off exceptions.. we are here for the general public to take on global usage.
Not niche bullshit or specialized multi-token trading for profit platforms used by the extreme minority.
You all play a game of bait & switch.
You mix the two like they are the same thing.

WHY does my country use one currency ?
Any guesses ?

And a gun to their head ? LOL i agree.. sort of.
The gun = Tough Govt regulations + Govt support & compliance etc.
