I currently have 3 7970's on one rig and 2 on another however once my local shop gets the 1x-16x risers in stock again it will be 5 on one rig.

I was reading a post saying certain drivers aren't any good for 4+ cards however post was pretty outdated.

So any up to date suggestions on driver SDK combo for 5 x 7970?

Thanks

Edit: I am running Windows XP SP3

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Don't know about the driver issue but make sure that you're using powered extenders for those 7970s.  You can get away running 6 low end 7770s off 1 mobo without additional power, but 5 7970s will burn out the ATX connector on the mobo.  You will need at least 2 or 3 powered extenders.

Thanks for that bit of advice, do you mean something like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812200121?

If not link me to what you do mean.

Sorry the Newegg link came up dead.

I remember a post in the last week talking how to make your own powered extenders, search for it.

Or go here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=7216.0

and scroll through - that's like the how to on building a rig.

Here's the link to the Do-it-yourself powered extender:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=76121.0

Basically you want to send more power to the card and not have the card try to pull it from the motherboard - hence the molex cable sticking out on the side.  Some places like cablesaurus sell them premade.
