Can we not just make a kickstarter already to make a non-profit open source ASIC company? Make them available through Amazon.com so everybody gets the same chance to buy one.

Non profit? How would that attract the $500,000+ USD that it takes to develop and produce an ASIC?

Everyone has the same chance to buy either of the available, non-scam ASICs, from Avalon and ASICMINER. ASICMINER was crowd-sourced through GLBSE. Avalon was/is crowd-sourced to some degree through pre-orders.

These scammers taking advantage of New and Vet investors alike. A bad day in the hood, yo.

On a serious note, we should invite some of these people to answer for their acts, or lack of action.

The the paralella "home supercomputer" achieved managed to achieve $800,000 via kickstarter. There's no reason that an open source ASIC couldn't. People on kickstarter don't expect a profit
