To start with,my local newspaper is so local that it doesn't cover half of the news happening throughout the country.Boy,I'm sure they were astounded by bitcoins beauty that they actually cared to write about it! I'm not going to translate the entire article because there is nothing new that we need to know.Basically,it states how demonization in India has given "good days" for bitcoins. And there is a chance Indian Government may legally approve the use of bitcoins in India! The actual article :

This news has been one of the key factors to the rise and it's good for us that bitcoin has taken up a leap of faith. I am very happy that bitcoin is rising, and considering India is a huge country, if even 50% population start using it, bam it's shoot up the btc like anything. But op you did misguided us, use better translation next time.

But modi government may limit the trade volume in Indian bitcoin trading platform rather than approving it as legal currency. I have heard that he have also limited amount of gold anyone can have but as they can't find out how much a person is holding in bitcoin they may try to get all of the personal information regarding every client of local trading platforms in India. And may take action against the one who have bought heavy amount of bitcoin in past... However demonetization seems to have some effect in the recent pump which i think was started after the demonetization in India.

Modi would definitely hate bitcoins as he already hates gold and doesn't want people to even own over 200gm of gold. Bitcoin is a far fetched thing for him as it's considered black money and many online wallets too say it's an illegal currency. Recently, Citrus told me how they look down upon BTC and if it's legalized, there couldn't be a better way for me to give it back to them.

I have even seen some Indian news channel talking about bitcoin as new type of currency and may become world currency in future replacing fiat. Which is quite unbelievable to hear from a news channel. That sound more like promoting bitcoin but who cares atleast this types of news creating more awareness regarding bitcoin to people which may ultimately boost adoption level.

That's actually pretty cool, I wasn't sure what language that was at first, but considering that it's Indian and there has been a lot of news coming out of India related to their economic woes, it seems every increasingly like there might be some big news coming out of India related to Bitcoin pretty soon. I for one am excited to see where this goes.

if i was you i would look at who wrote the story and utilise that person. start a local meetup for bitcoiners in your area. maybe as just a social discussion at a cheap cafe/bar/pub to start with. and get the writer to make a story about it. while socialising, let the group that turn up due to the story start brainstorming how to involve your local community more in bitcoin. get them to make a short list of regular stores they visit alot and make that the hotlist of stores to prioritise adopting bitcoin so you can all use bitcoin locally regularly. also use the meetup to do face to face trading. or business networking(startups/partnerships/concepts/idea's). use the momentum to keep growing bitcoin in your area. learn as much as you can about bitcoin and then teach it to others. dont just treat the article in the OP as a 2 minute of fame for your town and forget about it. use the article writer as a stepping stone to help you do something productive as its obvious the article writer has an interest in bitcoin, so utilise that interest

Must be one or some guys from this newspaper are making bitcoins and it's good underworking to him in your little city. So that person decided to tell people about bitcoin to provoke them to make some nice money with bitcoin.

There had been tons of indians using btc since time though. I have been to different webmasters forum and saw the rest of them discussing and exchanging with perfect money and the rest. Sure they like BTC for they don't have to pay terrible amounts to middlemen.

There's nothing new in here when we talk about demonetization, as the days it started gave a boost in the prices of bitcoins which made people a profit of more than 30% per Bitcoins that were sold with such increments than the actual International market rates. This is catching lots of eyes' attention and will surely wake up the government soon, and I don't think they will ever give it acceptance because they won't be able to trace and that's their disadvantage here.

I am quite skeptical when I read a small local newspaper something which is very good to be really true. I believe that journalist is optimistic or he wants to please his readers. It is too early and shows like the Indian government was defeated by bitcoin if she admits something like that. I urge you to read the article of Forbes where the Reserve Bank of India notes that "....distributed ledgers will be monitored and regulatory framework, as required,...." http://www.forbes.com/sites/krnkashyap/2016/12/22/indias-demonetization-is-causing-bitcoin-to-surge-inside-the-country/#7c107291738a. This statement is very different with the principles that bitcoin advocates.

There is no question of Indian government going to legalize it as it will become save heaven for people to store their black money which Indian government is trying to fight with demonetization

It's not that surprising that even local newspapers are featuring Bitcoin now that its fiat price is steeply rising. Journalists simply like to write sensationalist stories without doing much research, because these are low effort and generally well digested by their audience. And for India, given its ongoing war against cash, there's significant real world relevance of Bitcoin as well. Ridiculous as always is the alleged behavior of the government: Approving something that is already used and outside of its control. ya.ya.yo!

I have seen many news and articles in Hindi newspapers but what is surprising here is too see a regional language (perhaps Gujarati) publishing article about bitcoin. This will help spread bitcoin in rural India as well

This is only the begining! People say bitcoin is not mainstream. If you were in back in 2013 you would think this is mainstream
Yeah it seems bitcoin is again gaining some impulse, governments seem to be on a crusade to obtain every single penny they can out of their citizens and it seems they are shocked the people have started to defend themselves against their tyranny.

I wrote an article for our local paper (town/suburb in the USA of about 9000 people). Only a few people that I know even noticed. The Editor of the paper had a hard time even trying to just understand what I wrote, I kept it very simple.
There is no retail business in town that I know of here that accepts BTC, and apparently very few who dabble in BTC as I presume some reader who did would have contacted me.

Bitcoin being next big topic in India is an amazing promotion. If even minor local newspapers are writing about bitcoin in India then it is obvious that general stance towards bitcoin is very positive. Maybe this article was caused by this news - Largest Indian News Network: Bitcoin Will Reach US $10,000? https://cointelegraph.com/news/largest-indian-news-network-bitcoin-will-reach-us10000
