Feedback on NEW RIG

Hello everyone, I've been around reading for quite a while and have had my taste of using my current PC to learn as much as I can about mining and have decided to actually invest into a mining rig at this point. I have selected hardware based on what I think is appropriate and am just looking for feedback in case something I am choosing is a mistake, incorrect model or if there is something of better value that I can purchase for similar money. I will be mining LTC and any recommendations or help would be appreciated Cheesy

The hardware I've selected is:

Now, I've heard on these forums that because of an OpenCL bug, you need to have more RAM than you have video memory, if that's the case I should get 12GB of RAM right? Also, are those the best video cards that I can purchase from Newegg for roughly this price? I was originally going to purchase MSI R7950 Twin Frozr 3GD5/OC Radeon HD 7950 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 ( http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127667 ) ... but they are out of stock for I don't know how long and I'd rather not wait to find out if they will be getting them back in stock.

Last question, intel vs AMD? Does it matter? I've read that it doesn't matter, whichever is cheaper and has the slots available to pretty much go for.

CPU: Take a smaller and cheaper modell! A Sempron or Dual Core Athlon should be sufficient.
MB: ASROCK 970 Extreme 4: Cheap and has 3 Slots.
PSU: Good
Ram: Good (For BTC Mining: 2GB, für LTC: 8GB)
GPU: 7950 is actually a pretty good modell. MSI Twin Frozr are good. Gigabyte Windforce (with 3 fans) also also good. Look for good Coolingssolutions on the Card. (I think if you want to wait for the MSI, you would wait long. They are sold out everywhere.

It doesn't matter if INtel or AMD. Take the cheaper system. You don't need CPU computing power

Agree with this.  The only reason to buy a good CPU would be if you want to upgrade your main rig and use your current CPU in the miner. I use pretty much Celeron G530s in my Intel builds.  I used Phenom 840 on my AMD builds only because Microcenter had those cheap combos.

If you can get the MSI I would go with that.  Lot of people have good experience with Gigabyte but the 10 I've got from Frys are all crap.

Hey, trying to stay out of here for a bit, but someone brought these cards to my attention and I thought you guys might want to know about them if you're still building rigs

They are AMD 7970 reference boards and thus have really solid voltage regulation and RAM, VRMs are all really well cooled.  As such they should all also have voltage control.  Once these go out of stock they will likely not be replaced, so grab them while they're still around.

ASICs are the only way to go for bitcoin mining. GPUs will make almost nothing as more ASICs get sold & added to network.
