As Bitcoin and the Dow Jones both come very close to psychological resistance points, I'm curious which one the community feels will break first?

I'm not interested in Dow Jones at all. I check the price for bitcoin almost every day and only that is important to me.

Chinese exchanges have indeed passed the $1000 level, but I don't think many people here add much value to that. Western exchanges need China to be ahead at least $20-$30 in order to finally smash through the much waited for $1000 level. If we just focus on western exchanges to finally reach $1000, then I give Bitcoin 60% to reach $1000 first, and the Dow Jones 40% to reach 20,000 first. Very close if you ask me.

Frankly,  I'm more interested in the stock market (don't kill me), but we've been so close to 20k for so long that it's not a big landmark for me.  And bitcoin has already been above $1000, so that's kinda meh. 

Having said that,  I am happy to see both barriers broken.   Makes things really interesting.

The Dow is very close to 20,000 and might very well hit it before Bitcoin reaches $1,000. But one thing I am sure, Bitcoin will reach 2,000 years before Dow reaches 40,000.

i was never watching or pay attention for Dow Jones and i'm not interested anything else besides bitcoin and even both are pretty near to hit the target price but my vote is bitcoin will be first to reach $1000

^ That's me 100% I mean bitcoin is clearly more important and more interesting so its natural i would like to see it reach $1000 first. Yes, dow jones is very close to 20,000 and being realistic it may reach 20,000 before bitcoin reaches $1000 but I care about BTC more.

My friend whose works in finance got proved wrong. He was talking shit about Bitcoin, saying it would work and that I was crazy to hold it for 1+ year (I have been holding since early january 2015 and haven't touched a single satoshi). The guy said I was insane, and that I should sell it all and put it into S&P and other big index stocks, I told him he was wrong, and it feels good to start 2017 with such a win. Im pretty sure we can hit a new all time high during january.
