Well it doesn't really matter about the price because bitcoin as a technology will function just as well when the price is $0.01. However for me to live entirely off my bitcoin stash for my entire life, that would take around a $200,000 price per BTC Cheesy

But really we can always convert our fiat paychecks to bitcoin when we receive them, so there is no problem.

It is true your assertion for someone who has like a billion dollars would not need to work again but such cannot be said to be same as Bitcoin as we dont have Bitcoin banks to pay us interest and most investment sites are scammers in disguise...

In that vain, for me, I would really focus more on the value of Btc and the forces of demand and supply determine how rise it will for me to be ready to sell at that time....

I will say I need at least 0.5 BTC to pay off all of my daily need with the rate of 1000$, and for me it is still to hard to find 0.5 a month so it is still to hard to live only depending on bitcoin and because there are no bitcoin bank, so I can't rely on interest to earn, and rely on inventing also not an option because the profit can be up and down

I would need to have it be $10k to be okay with living off it completely.
That is if I had 1000 bitcoins too. Grin

Live with passive income is like a Ponzi scheme in the society. Only few people can live this way, while many others are working and creating to make all the society mechanisms continue running well. If many people start living only from passive income, our monetary system would crash, it's not sustainable.

It's a dangerous achievement... It's necessary a lot of money to live comfortably without risks, and it's necessary to think about. Maybe, when you finally reach to this achievement, many others reach too and all the system crash, resulting in cash worthless...

It all depends on what exactly I'll be doing and whether or not I'll be earning more Bitcoin in the meantime, or if I'll be living just off of what I have going for me right now.

if it's just for what I have with no earning capacity, then I need some large amount of value, $100,000/BTC would be beneficial and could probably let me live in my care for the majority of the remainder of my life with what I have, if I was to never earn again.

Many wealthy people can live off the interest of the money they have in the bank,or other passive income,  How high would Bitcoin price have to be for you to live off Bitcoin?

The concept of interest only applies to the fiat world, because fiat money is subject to inflation via expansion of its monetary base. This does not apply to Bitcoin, because its maximum supply is fixed at 21 million units.

Therefore expecting to be able to live of interest / passive income by just holding Bitcoin shows a fundamental lack of understanding the fundamentals of the currency. Bitcoin does not need to provide interest, because it just maintains its purchasing power.

The only healthy source of income comes from work, sales or providing venture capital.

You could argue that the rise in value of Bitcoin is also a form of interest, since your investment keeps growing from a fiat perspective.

To answer OP, if it goes above 50k, I'm pretty much set Smiley

The value of Bitcoin would probably have to be fairly high for me to effectively live off of it, assuming that I was earning what I do now and it wouldn't change under the new values. Probably not that high if I had to live off of it solely, but something around $10,000 would more than likely be far more than enough for me to earn a living off of the things I do now. Not an expensive and lavish life, but satisfactory.

the rest of my days? one hell of a lot more than it is now. well over $100,000 to be absolutely sure.

there really aren't too many people who'll be retiring at $5-10,000. those who say they will probably can't do basic math which seems to be an extremely common disability here.

If I have an investment that earns me 1 bitcoin per month, even if the price drops to 500$, I am still well off.

But if I am only to live off the bitcoin I have now for my entire life, then the price should reach millions and that may not still be enough.

I think it's not depends on how high bitcoin price is, but how much bitcoin we have. Our main focus is we should earn bitcoin as much as we can. For now, bitcoin price is near $1000, if we could have and save much bitcoin, we can make bitcoin as passive income and it could cover our expenses.

the price of bitcoin is not a factor here. if i have a couple of bitcoin and price goes to a crazy price like 1 million each then i can sell and live off. but if it we are talking about normal life then first i either have to be good at trading to make lots of profit enough to make a living or  price has to be stable and i have to earn it through other jobs.

There is a FOMO brewing...

I`m not sure that it`s possible for bitcoin to reach $10,000,but it would be great.

Until the life expenses are not running in bitcoin , i mean until the bitcoin valuation is not calculated in fiat currency till then who ever is holding bitcoin cannot get fully assured of his wealth value , so i think until the bitcoin are not converted to the fiat currency no users can tell how much is sufficient to live off in life. Because everyone have its own wishes and dreams, so no one can tell that this much is enough and if he gets more then he wont give it back.

It's hard to say because Bitcoin is very volatile but having in mind how much I earn from signature campaign Bitcoin should be worth at least 5000$ that I could cover my expenses. I'm usualy optimist but I don't think we will see that price soon and I can't relay only on Bitcoin as income spurse though that would be nice.

Again, it s not about checking price every day and doing calculations. It s about patience.

So I wont say what would be the price I d like to see, I ll say I ll keep BTC 2 more years and sell at that price.
