How can we mine AE? Is there any miner to download, maybe a mining pool established? What are the min. specs required for mining?

Only mining on testnet is availible as of now as far as I know. The coins that are mined there are not the real AE coins right? Please correct me if Im wrong. If those are real AE coins as well, I would also think of getting into the mining of AE early.

The Whitepaper says "cuckoo cycle" is among the preferred Proof-of-Work algorithms. From what I get, the algo hasn't yet been defined (no technical specs available), thus no mining is possible - correct me if I'm wrong. Even if PoW mining existed at this moment, it would work only on the testnet and the coins cannot migrate between mainnet and testnet.
Creating and implementing a new algorithm takes a bit of time - I make an analogy to Zcoin, that announced the migration to Merkle-Tree Proof in July-August. They needed 2-3 additional months to assess the academic paper of MTP PoW algo, kicked a miner release contest that lasted ~1.5 months and the transition period from Lyra2REv2 to MTP is still unclear. Haven't heard of MTP mining on testnet either.
I have also witnessed the creation of new algos out of thin air - Skunkhash, Timetravel10, possible Polytimos. These are not genuinely new, just a reworked sequence of already existing algos (Skein, Fugue, SHA256, SHA3, etc), used as cash cows by fraudulent developers (Dr. Asif Baloch from Signatum) and miner developers - namely sp_.
For that reason I am ready to wait time, until Aeternity chooses an efficient PoW algo, supported by a research paper from reputable scientists and implements it.

Is AE a possible competitor to Ethereum?

I've got a big bag since the ICO.

The only thing I've seen so far is the "identity" app.

Can you anyone elaborate please?

Everyone,

You can now vote for your favorite æpp, submitted during æternity's æpps hackathon!

Voting will last until 13 December 2017 18:00 CET

Any user who holds AE tokens can up or down-vote an æpp submission by signing with the ETH account where they hold their (or some) AE tokens. You can use MyEtherWallet or Metamask for signing. The voting weight is equal to the user’s share of all distributed AE tokens.

HAVE A LOOK AT THE ÆPPS AND VOTE

You can also learn more about the æpps hackathon at the blog.

Kind Regards,
The AE Team

Great, this is a nice start to involve the community, like to make this happen and care about the thoughts of your investors. I will definitely vote later on. Already got my favourite Daepp. Can we see somewhere how many AE coins have been voted with already?

The exact information is not yet available, because The test-net was not started yet. After its launch and testing, it will be possible to make more accurate information about the launch.

My guess is that we will see x2 way before mainnet launch. I expect that there will be a bull run on altcoins starting after this month and am sure that Aeternity wont be left out. There sure are many people eyeing on it and just waiting for the BTC forks to happen so that they can enter AE.

You mean the upcoming Super Bitcoin hard fork?

With so many hard fork coming up our way I am afraid that alts price will go down again.

The main difference between AE and Ethereum is that it makes intelligent contracts easier to analyze and safer. The price of Ethereum has increased substantially recently, and the price of AE is also. In the long run, AE is a very good project.

The main AE plans to launch in the second quarter of 2018, investors are optimistic about the eyes, the price to fly to the sky, looking for the opportunity to take a helicopter to buy

I just read the white paper of AE. This project looks very promising. I'm not going to sell it. I'm a believer and I just want to support this vision. Roll Eyes
