https://btc-e.com/news/136BTC-E just changed the way you login, and under the news, a lot of people are commenting their account was compromised and bitcoins lost. Anyone know what's going on at BTC-E?

i think it was a common sense change. people in the chat box were chatting with their user names, so it makes sense to protect the actual credentials people login with.

BTC-E is way too unstable for my trust. I hate that it's the biggest litecoin exchange (so far).
I always immediately withdraw my coin when im done transacting with it (if btc-e will let me).

Maybe some accounts got brute forced. It always was a weakness that you could see everyone's login names in the trollbox.

Makes sense. Seems like a security oversight in the first instance letting people use username for chat and login

There is actually no valid reason to leave your money in other wallets be it an exchange or a pool in which you mine. 90% of the complaints I read on this site are related to people blaming others for their own blind trust in human nature.... Lesson all coinbugs should learn from gold and silver bugs....if it ain't in your possession, it ain't yours.

There is actually a bit of reason with BTC-E, since they charge a high fee for withdrawal, 0.01 BTC each time. So small time traders might not like to pay $1+ for every withdrawal, and would likely to accumulate more balance before making a withdrawal.

I take it back - they are having database problems - it's making it look like any pending sell orders that you have (which lock up your USD/LTC/BTC and make it not appear in the "finances" page) are all not visible but if you go into orders, you can still see it in there.
I cancelled my pending sell orders and am going to sit back until they have their DB issues sorted.
Sorry to help spread any panic.

Did you look here? Go to "profile" -> "orders history" and check there - that's where mine was hiding. They disappeared from the normal viewable location on the trade page but I could cancel them and get the units back in my finances summary page.

The funds were transferred out of my account.. support even said so and gave me the supposed IP address of the hacker and the BTC address funds were transferred to.
