Unless you own a faucet, why do you spend time on faucets and can you share your story with us?

Unless you own a faucet, why do you spend time on faucets and can you share your story with us?

I use them to obtain the waters I need to survive in this cruel world. I'm thankful I can receive water from a faucet and don't have to travel miles every day balancing a container of water on my head, like many do

 Grin

Seriously though, I've never used bitcoin faucets, and never will. Not will I sell myself out to signature campaigns.

The bitcoins I own were bought with my own money, or mined on a home made rig that I built myself in a plastic crate.

I am no scrounger - I buy and generate my own bitcoins! Mostly for moral reasons , partly because faucets seem like such a tiny bullshit amount of Bitcoin to do annoying things to receive.

Clicking is for bots, bitcoin is for the human race!

You were lucky enough to be around during time where mining bitcoin on your own rig was profitable. But how about people who joined the race after 2013?
Either bitcoin faucets or mining at that time wasn't that awesome...

Faucets are good way to get some minor BTC, but most faucets have a very small return these days, the pay is low and the task too much...

A wise man once said "Never underestimate the value of a small amount of money."

There were Faucets when Bitcoin first came out giving away 1 BTC per claim!

You CAN make a profit getting FREE MONEY. It's true!

The trick is building referrals on each of the faucet sites. You get 1000 referrals x 100 sites and Wha La!

Never thought about this since i find it really difficult to find someone to get into your referrals. hope you are having a really huge site where to advertise your referrals other than that how come you will be getting these sort of bonus and members to join under your, either way good job, never being to faucets to be frank.

Exactly. I've never seen a way to get several referrals under me unless I waste my time on YouTube videos posting my referral link.

Nope! I stop using faucets since I enter tbitcointalk.org. I think its 5months ago. I just realize that faucets realy waste your time and efforts but it is a good way to learn about bitcoin using a faucet.

Bitcoin faucets are dumb they pay out less than 100 satoshis. I think the transaction fee is higher.

Altcoin faucets are a good thing still. It helps new people get into altcoins and bitcoins.

If bitcoin price is going up and faucet rewards are staying the same, could they be useful once again in the near future?

Not unless the faucet user is doing something actually useful other than clicking a virtual button.

Unless you were lucky enough to use faucets a few years ago, and save the bitcoin you made from them, then they are essentially useless. It makes much more economical sense to do a job, get paid in fiat and buy bitcoins with some of the fiat that you earned.

Like I said, randomly clicking buttons is a bots game, Bitcoin can enrich the human race!

(Then again, if you're clever enough to program a bot to earn money from faucets without you doing it yourself, then go for it! I'm not sure if this is possible, I've never tried, but if it is then it would be a nice [if small] form of income).

By faucet he doesn't simply mean Bitcoin Faucets. There are several Altcoin Faucets that are yet to be discovered. They are on the verge of dying because of low traffic so their owners might increase payouts out of panic rush.

Programming a bot to claim Bitcoins from faucets? That's like spending 5000$ on buying a gaming mouse with a Pentium 4 PC. Wasting time on faucets is still more fruitful than wasting time botting(bypassing captcha and setting timer).

There are certain ways Faucets can be helpful though. If one runs a currency exchange along with a blog and a faucet for claiming as you keep surfing. It's like Bitcointalk providing faucet every 10 minutes for staying online and reading through threads.

Yes, but if you're using altcoin faucets then you're just gambling in the hope that the altcoin will gain value in the future - you may as well just buy some of those altcoins and speculate on their value increasing, bypassing the whole faucet altogether.

I don't really understand your $5000 gaming mouse comment, if you're good at programming then just make a bot yourself, I'm not suggesting anyone pay money for a bot!

And your last comment reminds me of the scourge of signature campaigns here on BCT - by incentivising people to post just to get money for posting creates an environment where everyone posts bullshit just to get paid. Fuck that shit, it creates an annoying signal to noise ratio where the interesting content gets buried underneath irrelevant nonsense.

Unless you own a faucet, why do you spend time on faucets and can you share your story with us?

To setup a faucet site you need some money in order to pay members, but here you need to spend lot of time in making money.
But for the people who don't have money to invest in bitcoin they will find different ways where we can make free bitcoins it is possible only through faucets so many people will spend their time in faucets even with me also the same situation.

No, the income is low, and it takes time, so there is not much time to do this.
