A Complaint:To start, I signed up for the 30k XRP giveaway two days ago.
"We are currently giving 30k XRP to anyone who claims."
My Issue: I open ripple today, and note that I've been sent a 20K XRP transaction.
I check the thread, which now reads:
"We are currently giving 20k XRP to anyone who claims."
Clearly, the correct thing to do would be to do distribute the stated amount at the time.
The Details:For the record, I signed up for 30K XRP at:
2013-04-11, 16:54:25 The rules were changed and the stated amount edited to 20K at:
2013-04-12, 18:08:54, as can be verified by the reader.
Other users affected?Assuming I was the first new rippler thus "swindled",
a minimum of sixty users were similarly affected by this mistake.
Proposal for a solution:1: Send 30K to the ones signed up for 30K.
2: Send 20K for to the ones signed up for 20K.
Requests made after OpenCoin edited the post and changed the amount should already have received the correct amount.
Why even bother? This is a small thing perhaps, but this first encounter doesn't inspire much confidence in OpenCoin.
Specifically, my concern is the following:
Since one entity is in control of the XRP supply, is it not reasonable to expect
that they proceed honestly and correctly, even in small matters,
if we are to trust them with our money, and trust them to do great things?
tl;dr: I've been short changed by OpenCoin and feel a bit miffed.
PS: Who should I contact about this matter? (Is JoelKatz is a spokesperson of sorts around here?)
If I don't recieve a reply in this thread, I will move this post to a separate thread.
