People are really silly, I don't get it... Anyone not having Bitcoin is suspect and I would beware of him. Monero might have its chance, if we can think that a pump led by a scam exit is a chance, but definitely the second that merit to win is Ethereum Classic, as it proved that a fork can act better than the master, and that there's still people believing in a true decentralisation.

You seem misjudged. bitcoin might rank first and be a champion in the event with a very pantastis value in 2016 and to this day to be the best for the future exchange later.

Since there is bitcoin on the list I just cannot see how can it be compared to other cryptocurrencies. Anyway about the list I understand that monero and ethereum are up high but why dash ? Haven't heard from that coin in a while it would seem

They have 10% mining reward that go for many projects and mostly projects are marketing. So lots new people hear about DASH. I think even more $ DASH give for promotion then Bitcoin.

It's not doing much good to them. In my opinion coin will become popular if it's picked up by miners. I mean just look at all popular coins. There are not much coins that are popular and POS for example.

Im sure Monero has to be the winner of 2016.
Ending the year strong by (finally) getting some GUI wallet integration, and (finally) being added to more than one exchange, plus a nice increase in price.
Either that or maybe ETH for a strong showing through the mid to end of the year.

Eth strong "through the mid to end of the year" ? I would say opposite of that. ETH was strong at the beginning of the 2016, after DAO hack it all gone down. Yeah you may argue that price gone UP since than but with price increase that ETH had it would be way over 10-12$

There is a huge demand for two other crypto's which are XMR, DASH other than bitcoin, really very interesting to know many people are showing interest toward other altcoin by not depending only on bitcoin. But when compared to dash, XMR has more credibility in the market.

jan 1, 2016 Monero price was 0.001+ BTC and when Dec 31, 2016 it was 0.013+. Why you said it went from 195 satoshis to 0.02 BTC?
I agreed if bitcoin still the best cryptocurrecy in 2016 (see how big it increased since jan - dec 2016)

Monero still lead with 435 votes and Bitcoin in the second positions with 399 votes but in my point of view this poll does not represent the voters of all people because not everyone knows this site and honestly i just know this site only from this thread and i mean here is if all of cryptocurrency users really cast their vote in this poll i'm pretty sure the winner of this poll is bitcoin not monero

I see the vote even ambiguous in the sense that if its about the best crypto currency of 2016 or best crypto currency created in 2016? If its the latter, then I dont think there are two ways to it that its definitely going to be bitcoin but if its the latter then other coins can now be fighting for a space in that category but no matter the outcome of the vote, the fact still remains its bitcoin all the way...
