Hi all,

Just completed a research from bitcoin casino players point of view.
We have found out that these are the top three parameters players cares about:

1. Geo location - are they OK to play (by the casino T&C) from the current jurisdiction.?
2. Game - does the casino host their favorite game?
3. Bonus - does the casino hold their favorite type of bonus?

And a list of additional important things players cares about

  • Is the casino licensed
  • Can they play with Mobile
  • Specific additional language
  • Specific game provider
  • Can they also play with real money
  • ...others

I would like to hear your thoughts and advice about the top main three things you believe (or feel as a player) are the most important while joining new Bitcoin casino

Thanks

Are you sure you did not miss something that should be on the top parameters list? Provably Fair mechanism, do you think people does not care about it when they are going to gamble their money on such casino?

We were surprised as well, but PF is not a big issue as it was before.
Keep in mind we are taking about casino games, not only dice of slots. Another point is that unlike the games providers in the bitcoin only space which are placing efforts and developing the PF games, in the bitcoin+fiat gambling markets, the providers ( top ones ) are traditional games providers and PF is not in their platforms.

Another point they may look or atleast i used to look is how is their support, if they don't have live support i try to avoid them. If not atleast chat room with few moderator always active is mandatory, also you haven't included time and limit for deposit/withdraw those casino have.

I am surprised to see Geo location listed as 1., because most bitcoin casinos are "hide the operator" casinos and do not care about your location.

In addition, I am surprised to see "Is the casino licensed" as the next first important thing, as the "hide the operator" bitcoin casino signature campaign promoters here on bitcointalk, claim that almost no one would care about licensed or not.

I would like to see the percentage of the players who considered this as important? If players consider a license really as so important, it might would make sense to inform them about the quality of the licensing jurisdictions. A Curacao license i.e., is for players worthless.

I think that the PF is less of an issue with known software providers. Also, live dealer games are more transparent on their gaming results. (Full camera on ball at all times, etc).

Jurisdiction? Well, do players really care about that? So far, no one other than affiliates has asked us that.

I would say these are the most important in no specific order:
  • Product (sports bets, casino games (RNG and Live). Quality of the games.
  • Trust worthiness of the site. Jurisdiction matters much less than complaints found on third party sites. Aesthetics of the site are also a factor in projecting trust.
  • Withdraw and deposit times and limitations.
  • Customer Support. This is a big one. Live chat is critical to servicing high roller players issues and concerns.
  • General attitude towards players.

Since the regulations and the limitations in the bitcoin exchanges, players care a lot about the Geo location, term and conditions and if they are OK or not to play
Basically it comes up when the players wants to cash out and they can since their country in listed as not approved in the T&C

Support is also important, we have to look back to this point, I agree that live chat is a game changer for new players.

Thanks for your advises Smiley

Are you going to release which non-provably fair casino paid you for this "research"? Funny, just looked at your site and you represent two clients that are NOT provably fair. Ultraplay does not provide provably fair games, and select SoftSwiss games are provably fair.

Edit 2: Just looked at your clients page (not just homepage), and seems you are affiliated with a lot of shady casino operators including the following: mBit (cheats users on bonuses), Fortune Jack (fakes volume), Cryptsy (not gambling related, but self explanatory), Betcoin (doesn't pay out jackpots), Cloudbet (only provides Betsoft games --> scam), and so on.

Every major Bitcoin site is provably fair: the ones that are not meet all 3 of your criteria you listed. They have elaborate T&C's that allow them to confiscate user funds from the bonuses they give their players, and they are all "licensed" (the countries they are licensed in do not provide any legal benefit for the vast, vast majority of players).

The whole exchange thing is also irrelevant. They don't care if the casino it comes from is "licensed" or not. CoinBase for example will ban you regardless if you have deposits coming in from addresses known to be affiliated with casinos.

Edit: I would also like to know how you conducted this "research", and with some cites, otherwise I am changing the neutral feedback I left you to negative. Trying to mislead players is not cool.

I am not sure how you completed this poll/survey and find out these answers but from my point of view - and many other gamblers I met online these features are not that important.

- Geo Location - bitcoin gambling don't care about this, if you like some site unreachable from your area you just use VPN.
PrimeDice is blocked in US and Australia and still have plenty of players from these countries.

- Game - now that is obvious and self explanatory

- Bonus - this is a tricky part, usually seasoned gamblers know that most casino bonuses are tailored to bring casino more profit and not favor players.
You can encounter good promo but most people won't pick casino just because they have good promos.

- License - no, license from Curacao or Panama is pretty much not doing much for players and KYC policies of licensed casinos are harsh which could deter player from playing.

- Mobile Frindly Interface - I guess it could be major point for smartphone and tablet users. Personally I don't care.

- Language - No need for that. English is probably the only language people care about while browsing internet anyway.

- Specific game Providers - some users might have preferences here, but for me as long as game is provably fair I don't have a problem with most operators.

- Real Money? - you mean fiat gambling? No, fiat gambling only requires more AML/KYC procedures. We don't need it.

I believe that something else that is very important when deciding to join a bitcoin casino is their reputation. Reputation is important so that users know the casino isn't going to scam them.

Did the owners ever run a website before? Are they using an API? (for example, MoneyPot) Do they communicate well with users on this forum and on other platforms? Have they ever done any giveaways?

Reputation is set by users in this forum, in sources like bitcoingg and askamblers and in social groups dedicated to this topic
Did the owners ever run a website before? - usually no one knows the owners, and in other cases its fake names. Very rare to find the faces like in Oshi case.
Giveaways - please explain

i am also surprised to see the number 1 Geo location in the list specially as the first thing! because we are talking about bitcoin casinos and those casinos that limit access to some countries are so few and the countries they limit are also so few making the group of people affected by this very small. and they can either use a VPN or use another casino easily.

and also i personally never thought about checking to see if a casino is licensed or not. i always check the reputation, mostly from their announcement.
besides i don't think any of them are. if i am not mistaken "online" gambling is illegal in some countries such as US and Philippines

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

The number one concern to bitcoin gamblers is not geo location. They are lying. Since they decided to not address my points, I am leaving them negative feedback, and I would strongly encourage others to do so as well. This is nothing more than a paid marketing stunt by a bunch of known shady casino operators, trying to convince people that offering provably fair games does not matter.

Yes, you are mistaken in regard to the US online gambling. If you are resident in one of the few regulated states, it would be illegal to play at a not licensed site. In all other states, it is not allowed to transfer money to gambling sites, but you are allowed to play on gambling sites. Even if you gave the order to send money to a gambling site, you did not breach any law. The processor (i.e. Western Union, Money Gram) who transfered your money, breached US law.

Hence, everyone who played from a non-regulated US state, can perfectly enforce his claim thru legal action.

+1 , this "survey" has nothing to do with the reality and appears to be a brain wash campaign to the favour of the shady operators he is affiliated with.

Everyone who is affiliated with the publicly proven betcoin.ag scam should get a negative feedback anyway.

You seem to know a lot about the casino's yourself, Where is it documented that Fortunejack fakes volume? I will look up mBit not paying out customers now also, I was planning to signup there soon.

Its late (early am) my time, I can pull it up if you would like tomorrow. They tried claiming some ridiculous amount of volume wagered and they got called out for it in either their thread, or on one of Nico's threads some time ago (I believe Fortune Jack stopped doing this, but I don't think they ever admitted to it). Signing up for any site that uses BetSoft is a sure way to lose. Make sure you read the T&C carefully before depositing on any of these sites (they all look the same, and most are owned by same people). A lot of the T&Cs on these sites say they can require identification before releasing large withdrawals, require huge turnover (which is extremely EV-: they make you play it on slots (which have 3%-5% HE usually) and limit your max bet to token amounts, to reduce variance).  They (people that run all the similar looking sites such as Bitcasino) also run review sites that prop their own sites up (they give themselves 9/10 or 10/10 every time). Just very sketchy.

Here some more details / links:

The FortuneJack faking stats "discussion" started here: "Are the wagered stats of 14+ million BTC on the homepage correct?", they denied having wrong stats a couple times, so I gave a bit more arguments in this post. Finally they acknowledged it was wrong and claimed it was because of some exchange rate bug and offered me a bug bounty in PM (probably to keep me quite - I refused.) I gave some more arguments on why the wrong stats couldn't be caused by an exchange rate bug. They basically just ignored it from there. Few days later they did lower their stats by 28 times but still basically ignored my arguments.

I'd like to see some more info on how you performed this research.
Did you let users of these sites fill in a survey? Is there any example of it that we could check out?

How many people participated with this research and where did they come from?

Arrrh Thanks guys, I did check out FJ's trust after posting that and got lost in the thread unable to come back and update, At least others can see it now its posted here.
I feel like they are very inexperienced in business but offer a fair casino, Just in my opinion. I have brought up and pushed matters with them a few myself, Same sort of response "no, you are wrong" games.

Gambling is my no1 hobby, I see a bright future with bitcoins and equally from certain people in this community keeping the scum out, Like OP, There needs to be a shakeup of all businesses connected, Easy to find scum in the marketing world.

More off topic: Betsoft's games... I don't think they are scummy, That they fixed the jackpots for malicious intent, The reason is more to do with how incompetent they are and without a proper regulator to oversee their games. I also have personal experience with them that backs up this view.
