Hi

Yesterday and today  I tryed to send (2) separate small amounts from my Multi bit classic wallet version 05.15 to local bitcoins

One amount of $1 and another for $10

Both transactions seemed to get stuck and my balance of bitcoins significantly dropped from 0.9 Bitcoins which was around $1000 yesterday to just $20 today.

I have tryed reseting the block chain and transactions a couple of times once from first transaction date and once from 3 days ago.  I have imported my private key.

Nothing seems to be working to recover the 0.9 of Bitcoin all the transactions are showing from the start of the wallet expect the last two made yesterday and today.

Please can anyone help

Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

have you got the addresses the funds went to.

go to blockchain.info/address/put the address here
and check out if the funds have been confirmed.

if so then localbitcoins has the coins.

if the funds are not confirmed (maybe due to low tx fee) then it may just dropp off the network unconfirmed in the next 48 hours and multibit will refresh to say the funds are available to spend again

Hi

Thanks for getting back to me

Yes I have the Address that the two amounts were sent to              18WFtbRorxYKePZmMiqdZS7bKVpEAW1iMg

I just checked it on blockchain.info and no transactions have been received at this address.

So my two transactions I made yesterday and today are lost ?

Or they may come back ? will my wallet display the correct Balance ?

ok seems they have already dropped off the network

ok next check on blockchain.info using the addresses YOU own (when the funds came to you when you initially bought the coins)

to see if the funds are still there

it may be that multibit servers have not updated the drop off the network(still stuck in their mempool)
or
it may be the funds ended up elsewhere(possible hack).

There's a MultiBit section on the forums, you should post there.

As for your issue, I'm not really knowledgeable on MultiBit, but if I were you, I'd try and re-import my wallet backup. Transaction will most likely be dropped from mempools and your funds will probably return, they can't end up nowhere.

On the Block Chain my address 1MHFrPTi2WGeDSngDydj8u6wPTQKBgjyrA  is showing a balance of 0.95342651 BTC

Then your coins are safe within your address.

You need to download a newer version (5.16 or higher) and input your privatekey there.
According to their site, 5.15 version and lower have issues with resyncing.

Quote
I'm running an old version of MultiBit Classic (before 0.5.16)

Earlier versions of MultiBit Classic did not show transactions that had inputs that were not confirmed. As this caused confusion this has been changed in version 0.5.16 so that these transactions are shown (unconfirmed). If you have an old version of MultiBit Classic download the latest copy and install it. You will need to do a 'Reset block chain and transactions' so that MultiBit Classic can resync to see any transactions like this.

Multibit Classic wallet versions below 0.5.17 generates transaction with High S value, no longer accepted by the network. You need to upgrade to the latest version, and reset blockchain and transactions to be able to spend them, this time with the client generating transactions with low s value.

Edit: I originally posted this on the other thread. OP, please close all the threads when this is solved. Else, close the other conflicting threads at least.

Thanks for your help Guys

I reset the Block Chain again and afterwards the coins have been restored back to my wallet with the correct balance.

The only new version of Multi Bit that I can find is MULTi BIT HD which apparently wont accept private keys where can I find a newer version of classic multibit

This is the situation where I think that the lack of sweeping function in Multibit HD is extremely frustrating.

Anyway, the latest version of Classic is here: https://multibit.org/releases/multibit-classic/multibit-classic-0.5.19/.

Looking at how Multibit HD is better in many aspects and is more supported, I would advise you to switch from Classic to HD.

Just install Multibit HD, create a new address. Send your BTC from Multibit Classic to HD. Then uninstall Classic.
(Keep a copy of classic wallet file & private key for future IFs & BUTs)
