Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

I don't know what you mean Spoetnik, I invested in about a dozen of ICO's after seeing how pretty the images were in their announcement threads and I made so much money that now I can afford two whole slices of pizza and I only had to invest 10 BTC and I didn't even had to waste time with 'escrows' (whatever that buzzword might mean). They're awesome and now I'm a pro trader and investor! /s

Why are ICOs scam a priori?

ICOs have paid for major life expenses for the last two years for many smart people all around the world.

I've been blessed to buy a house in Berlin fully subsidized by ICO cryptocurrency opportunities.

Why is this good? Because ICOS are not only free market experiments, they (the major non-scam ICOs) also foster cryptotransaction-innovation.

You and anyone else are free to be btczed or choose not to be "amused" (c) Spoetnik.

Unfortunately there are some people whose characters' bad realms come to shine the more money or BTC they have their minds on - that is not the case with people behind honest Initial Coin Offerings. Neither it's the case with Spoetnik. He's just one of the crypto scholars who considers the ethics of a coin's Initial Offering to be fundamentally wrong.

Making an altcoin and starting an ICO is the new version of the Nigerian prince bank scam.
We are going to see a lot of new projects in the next year or two, and many of them will disappear a month after the premine coins are dumped on the exchanges.

Every time someone asks what ICO to invest in, I tell them to just send their Bitcoin to my address.

That's right.

And then there are the real ICOs, those of whom Spoetnik and me got shares.

At some advanced IQ point you just happen to have some, because you know it makes real $ense.

Iamnotback was a little callous about this when he basically refused to get money post-2005 despite having been one of the top developers in the late nineties. Now with fancy money machines (Steem etc) he sort of figured out how to get paid for figuring out how to become healthy. But that's another story.

I work at a German research institute. Of course it's kind of a no-brainer to figure out where to invest a little btc's here and there to secure the family with long term cryptographically secured holdings. If one does not do that it's not quite smart, really.

unfortunately we will hear it more in the near future, i keep seeing new people who are also newbies in anything blockchain related are asking how they can create a new altcoin. and they all see potential of profit because there are still idiots who invest in them and hand their money to these scammers on a silver platter.

Like i was saying i was just curious if you all got the same reaction as me.
The word ICO makes me cringe something fierce.

When i start reading about a coin and i hear "ICO" i close the web page instantly.
And i was getting the feeling the public was getting pretty damn tired of them too.
Why ?
Because i see dev's now making a large effort to avoid mentioning their coin is an ICO.
They are avoiding saying it !
..they know

Guys.. come one.
It's Crypto-Panhandling.
You buy then later you get to be a bag holder.. for life  Cheesy

98% of all ICO get dumped on and never regain their price for one thing.
And the 1 or 2 that has had any level of success is essentially dead.
Because it was used by the greedy and discarded afterwards.

People defend them for short term gain.. nothing more.
How do we know ?
Easy the track record of them all speaks volumes.

..play the game but you are begging for the cops to come knocking.
What ? You think they are just going to let this shit slide forever ?  Cheesy

a lot of them?
if anything only a couple of them will be successful and I say successful but in fact that is a wrong usage of this word because they will give profit from the pump the have and then die, nothing more.
and since it is a one time thing among lots of ICOs I'd say investing in an ICO is still not a good option because of the risks. we are better off investing in altcoins when they are released and stop allowing scammers to make money this way.
