Takes long time to load "My Messages"

It always takes 10 or 20 times as long for me to load the PMs page as compared to any other link on bitcointalk.  Is this because I have a lot of messages stored?  Or is everyone getting this?

How much is "a lot" for you?
I'm currently at 170 pages and I notice it's going significantly slower than when things were below 100/empty.
Not 10/20 times as slow, but still, notable.

I'm at around 800 + pages total, sent and received.

The site overall is loading slowly for me at times today.  But my messages is loading normally.

It shouldn't matter how many messages you have overall; the system only loads 20 of them at a time.

I am surprised that you are just now noticing this. When you access your PMs, SMF will need to query all of your messages, and the server can get bogged down when you have a lot of PMs.

theymos has said that he is willing to prune your messages for you and provide you with a file containing all your (pruned) messages that is compatible with most email software (but that he will only do this once per user).

I am not sure if this will be resolved with the new forum.

You can somewhat resolve the issue by having PM notifications be sent to you via email, just be sure that you don't take any action on any PM you look at via email because it will be much more difficult to check for imposters and to parse what was quoted and what was said by the sender.

I do not see much difference, between loading pm or others page, to me overall site slow recently.

Sorry for such a late response, but thanks for the answer.  I believe this is the case unless otherwise corrected.  I think I'll stick to the extra waiting time
