I am thinking of building a new rig for mining, but don't want to spend too much.
I am deciding between a 7850 or 7870. Of course the 7870 is faster, but is the extra cost worth it?
On a side note, it'll be used for gaming as well. Would an i3 3220 CPU be enough? (My other option would be AMD FX 6300, but i3 is slightly cheaper with a cheaper B75 motherboard, with a lower power consumption)

Thanks for your time reading my post. =]

I get about 360 mhash from my HD7850. Over 700 each with my 7970s. To put in perspective.

From what I've heard there are a lot of 7850s with limited voltage control while most 7870s are more generous in that aspect if it matters.

420/360 mhash is a 17% increase.
7870 is about £180, and 7850 is about £150, which is a 20% increase.
But factoring in other costs, the % difference in price will be lower than that.

Around 150 Watt, this card doesn't consume much power compared to 5850 hehe

Can you post your miner settings and OC settings? I'm stuck at 340Mh/s

1200MHz core, 1300MHz memory, 1.18V
