The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Ive been using them for long time and encounter no issues since i register an account with them. what specific issues you encounter? its best to provide more info to when sending a warning to others.

I have found blockchain.info web wallet very reliable and haven't faced any problem yet. Is there any specific reason for your suggestion to stop using blockchain.info wallets? Like did something happen?

Well you can choose your own fees for the transaction, its not necessary to use the recommended fee.

I tried from blockchain app but tranx failed many time by doing this...
0.0003 Bitcoin equals 0.28 US Dollar
is not high amount for bitcoin tranx above 10$+..... I can pay this amount

I don't have any issues with them , I actually stopped using them since they upgraded to HD and they removed the legacy login with it. If we take in consideration that there are a lot of web wallets and this section became full lately with issues from blockchain.info only , my warning should definitely be taken seriously , It's your choice though.

I'll just leave this and this here.  The first one is a very severe flaw with their system.  No right wallet should've done that (trying to spend a tx and its double spend attempt in the same transaction).

And please guys, try to understand about how the recommended fee are calculated.  They are calculated by the size.  It's annoying how many users on this forum doesn't know that when it has been asked and answered to death on this very forum.

I don't understand actually that why you are suggestions everyone to use wallet other than blockchain.info .
Since I know that blockchain in official but I myself using myscellium because I don't like views of blockchain .
In my opinion blockchain is a bad option for those who are bitcointalk forum signature campaign advertisers . Because if we are in any campaign we need a particular fixed wallet but the legacy backup of blockchain forced us to use another wallet like myscellium that have non-variable address , according to our need .

You seem to be stupid, sorry about that. It has NOTHING to do with you what other people do and do not do (with their money). It's their money so let them do with it as they please. Possible alternatives :  btc.com (If you want to stay with web wallets) , Electrum (desktop) , Multibit HD (desktop) , Paper wallets for long term and Nano Ledger S as a hardware wallet (It has multi coins support too)

well these are all tools and none of them are perfect.
any user needs to know the weaknesses and strength of each one of these tools before using them. for example using blockchain.info has all the bad things you already know but it also is an easy way for newer members to have a bitcoin wallet , also have it handy anywhere they are fast and easy.

electrum and multibit are SPV clients and SPV client is never perfect. there is the matter of trust, that you need to put in the servers you connect to so that they give you real information and not withholding anything. (there are good articles about weaknesses of SPV client online you can read)

and paper wallet is only good as long as you deposit only. spending it is going to be a long process of sweeping, spending and creating a new one to put the remainder in.

full node is the best option but it also has problems such as the big amount of disk space that it is going to take for blockchain. also the high amount of network traffic that it is going to need.

I think if the user is old user of blockchain ( about one
year old ) then no big problem to use blockchain
because if you are old user then you have multiple
address or at least you have a non- variable address . In
this way you can fulfill your problem of change address .
Secondly I found a good thing is the blockchain , that is
we can set custom transaction that . So overall here I
didn't found anything bad in blockchain . It's cool to use
.

To be honest, I have no idea why can't anyone give a legit advise to everyone. This thread is meant to help people, no hidden agenda here, from my point of view.

I'll leave this here, together with why it is a huge issue.
http://blog.blockchain.com/2014/12/08/blockchain-info-security-disclosure/

Reused R value. This allows hackers to gain access to ANY addresses created within the platform. What does this mean? The user's funds WILL be stolen and logic says that the victim would be severely affected, even if the refund is given. How to prevent this? Why didn't the developers debug the code BEFORE releasing the update? This is the minimum that they should do, they are handling potentially millions of dollars in the user's funds.

https://blog.blockchain.com/2015/05/28/android-wallet-security-update/

Weak address generation yet again. They could easily debug the code and ensure that random.org is supplying the correct code. More money lost wow.

It's your choice if you heed the advice or not. We aren't forcing you.

I’ve never heard such a thing. Who asked something like that from people partake in signature campaign? On the other side can you explain what kind of wallet is "fixed wallet" and where did you read that?  Moreover where you read that campaign advertisers believe blockchain.info wallet is bad?

Really? What makes you think btc.com is safer than blockchain.info ?
With the number of updated features, they sure are concerned about  "safety first" protocols.I'd still not freakout over a simple server maintenance happened a few days ago.Agree they have been ddosd before but access to the wallet is nearly impossible.URL identifiers are generated once and even if the hacker has access to them, they cannot crack the passwords associated with it.

To be honest that is when I stopped using them. But you shouldn't tell others to stop using a service that is just stupid. Live and live.

What's so stupid about telling others to stop using a service that can't handle people's bitcoin (=money) and bitcoin transactions correctly?  We should, by the way.

You seem to be stupid, sorry about that. It has NOTHING to do with you what other people do and do not do (with their money). It's their money so let them do with it as they please. Fucking forum of financial advisors all of a sudden. just point me to where they CANNOT handle peoples bitcoin, they have handled mine very well for a very long time.

But examples are dated back in 2014 and 2015 (didn't they fix it already?), far before blockchain.info introduced their latest HD incarnation (it happened early in 2016).
Do you have anything new proving that their HD wallet might be still susceptible to this kind of exploits?

i considers nothing perfect in this world even if there is wallet with high security level but don't mean will safe from the hackers or bugs and using another wallet also not necessarily better than blockchain wallet however from the beginning i know bitcoin until now i only use blockchain wallet and there is no problem during using it and indeed i heard that people several times had issue with unsolved with blockchain wallet but that won't stop me using this wallet until now and for now i have no plan to leaving blockchain

They definitely fixed it, if not they wouldn't be here.

It isn't about how these bugs affected the address but how this happened at first. The reason for this to happen is because they didn't practice good security procedures. If they did this in the past, again and again, I don't find it good considering that they are handling user's funds.

Anyway, you can exploit the address if the R value is reused during transaction creation. Nothing new.

Come on people. It's still on your own decision if you will stop using the service of blockchain.info so why make things go worst. No need for such arguable comment that is out of the line. Share the knowledge instead.

P.S Sometimes people needs to experience something before going on a change. If everything is fine they are just going on without thinking the associated risk. Sense at it's finest.

He just warned us because of the those of the upgrade of it to HD and maybe he do really like the legacy login a lot but it was removed when the upgrade happen.

So this case is close, he doesn't have an issue upon using blockchain so do I. But stopping other people using a reputable and legitimate service.

I think its insane, why would I stop if I'm confidently having no problems with them at all?

Don't see a problem with using them.
I use them only for small transaction under $5.
So they are good enough for what I am using them for.

When there's a cliff up on a road, people put a warning sign to let others know about it. You don't have to see and/or fall down the cliff yourself to stop going that way.

This is just like that. It's just a warning, guys. The point of this thread is to make people aware that blockchain.info is prone to problems and let them decide if they want to keep using it with the risk of getting the same problems that others have been reported or change to another wallet.

I think it's their double spend and occasional non-standard/invalid transaction that's worrying. Slow confirmation or fee aren't that big of a problem. Signed messages and private keys availability and being a web wallet are some big cons for me but people don't seem to care about that sooo...

I appreciate your kind advice. However i never face any serious problems with this wallet just their site was down due to dns attacked recent months yeah all we know that blockchain is popullar bitcoin wallet where targeted by the hackers, so that it's better to not storing all of your assets out there i personally keep small amount out there only for spendable purpose so if the site is offline or bad things happen i'm not too worried about that.
Anyway i don't like they new feature also we should verify email before accessing the site though i know it's for safety purpose.

Because if we are in any campaign we need a particular fixed wallet but the legacy backup of blockchain forced us to use another wallet like myscellium that have non-variable address , according to our need .
they suggest you to use another address in every bitcoin tx for anonymity, but you can keep the same address as long as you want, i have been doing that without any issues

Blockchain.info is having a lot of issues lately and I really recommend anyone using it to stop already , If you don't want to regret later maybe Its the best time to stop using it.
Possible alternatives :  btc.com (If you want to stay with web wallets) , Electrum (desktop) , Multibit HD (desktop) , Paper wallets for long term and Nano Ledger S as a hardware wallet (It has multi coins support too)

what is problem blockchain info
and then you recomended leave from blockchain.info service
and about btc.com service, open private key service or not

Thanks for informing us about that. Till now I do not have faced any problem from online wallet but I am worried because of different claims from different people. I will like to know about the desktop wallet. I have heard that the best of them are Electrum and armory. Is that right about these two?

Honestly , I have to say that some members here have some trust issues or are simply paranoid. I was simply giving a friendly advice and some people lost their minds. If you don't want to follow my advice Its fine , just don't post on this thread .
I have nothing against blockchain.info but they do have issues whether you like it or not , simply don't cry If you lose your coins somehow.

They have been advertising on their wallet they optimize your sends transactions fee to align with the amount being sent.
I have been always using the advanced function so I dont know why they see this as a feature to be promoting.

btc.com co-signs your transaction because we are a multi-sig wallet, you always have two keys. So you are always safe
Xapo and Coibase are both multisignanture wallets as well. yet people are complaining about their restrictive TOS rules, suspended accounts, frozen funds everyday.
I am not familiar with BTC.com level of invigilation, but I expect they are monitoring every transaction as well.

The reason to use it is for only making small transfers to your main wallet. Nothing more.
I would like to think the creators of it 5 years ago just wanted to create something so people have something to do quick and fast transfers on the go not to keep or make large transactions with.

btc.com co-signs your transaction because we are a multi-sig wallet, you always have two keys.
You probably don't know how multisignature works. In a perfect world, multi signature wallet should give the user the full authority to do whatever they want. Done by providing at least n keys (if n-of-m keys are needed for multisig).

Coinbase and Xapo both doesn't do this and they hence still have full control over your address.

But, with it being an online wallet, it probably still isn't all that safe. You are giving up your privacy for online wallets as well.

Why do you expect that? We don't monitor anything, ever, at all. We don't want to.

Your bitcoin is always safe with us because you ALWAYS have TWO KEYS. ( we have a 2 out of 3 multi signature set up)

Personally using xapo wallet and I am satisfied. But I think that blockchain.info one of the most good web wallets as u can get private keys from your wallet (in xapo I can't).  Smiley

Xapo is definitely a higher risk but blockchain.info is no longer giving private keys to users since they upgraded to HD and removed legacy one. Its possible to get them but the method is not newbie-friendly and If you don't know what you are doing , you could screw things up.

After blockchain.info changed to HD version, we can't see the private key. I think we must use many web wallet to save our bitcoin. No one web wallet guarantee that our bitcoin is full secure. Always get news update about the best recommended web wallet from bitcoin.org.

All web wallets are secured based on their technical aspects but of course in our own preferences, we are not to take those securities of them to take care of our coins.

The primarily used of web wallets in my case is just to use their service since no doubt they have some services that can bring convenient to the customers. But I will exclude blockchain.info to that since they are primarily for bitcoin storage services purposes. And now that you guys mentioned that we aren't able to hold our own private keys then it's no sense at all to use that web wallet.
