Hi,

So I have 4x R4's and 3x S9's hashing, but since I just bought a top configured MacBook Pro 2016 touch bar 15" w/ 4GB AMD 460 Graphics, figured I'd just want to play around with ETH mining off a GPU.

I know it's nothing like the crazy desktop rigs y'all have been setting up, but it's better than nothing.

I've tried Geth/Brew and Ethminer wouldn't even install properly via terminal. Tells me to repair permissions under the ./homebrew folder, which I tried to pinpoint and restore permissions, but no luck.

I've also tried AlethZero for Mac (supposed a standalone Mac GPU miner) but it doesn't work...

Any suggestions? I'd hate to post a duplicate thread, but all the current threads on this site or others weren't helpful... just the same Brew/Eth installation instructions which DO NOT work...

Thanks in advance!

Was thinking that - the problem is that I use this MacBook for everyday use (in OS X, not windows); Parallels I've tried in the past but you only get 1/2 the capability of running natively...

Thanks though - anybody else?

Fail to plan, and you plan to fail.

Anyone?

Please do not ever mine crypto on a laptop. Laptop parts aren't made for that kind of hardcore use, and because of the cramped layout and restricted airflow you can damage several components.

Nothing. Not even worth it. Buy the coin instead.

If you really want to try this: use the disk application in OSX to create a new partition on your ssd.  Install Boot Camp to that partition with windows 8 or windows 10 ( new boot camp will not accept a non uefi OS like windows 7 )

I can't imagine you would be able to get more than 6 or 7 MH/s.  Unless you have applecare; I can't see how this would be worth it to risk an ~3.5k laptop.
