Author Topic: Account banned for 3 months now, no replies on email.  (Read 895 times)

I reset my PW using the secret code in the beginning of November and have since been locked out of my account with no luck getting any sort of resolution by using the email provided. I believe I was forced to change my password because I changed IP addresses / work locations; I may be wrong on that one.

If there's anyone who can help guide me in the right direction to recovering my account it would be greatly appreciated. The account name was xJuturna. Working on finding my signed message on the official post now..

So you're not getting the password reset emails when you use the password remind feature?

Let's hope 2017 is better than 2016.

IIRC, the exact message that users receive when they reset their PW via the security question is something along the lines that they have been banned for security reasons.

I am not sure why, but it appears as if resetting passwords to accounts that have been locked this way has become a very low priority for the admins -- even though the issue was really caused by theymos

Ok. So if you recieve a permanent ban. The permanent means it is eternally banned from this forum.
After about 6 months you can usually enquire about making a new account if you understand why it was banned.
If they want a faster response then they can make a new account and post in the "meta" section and ask if they would be able to post again (then the staff/mods can suggest if you can use an account here again). Forget the old account, it is block and is gone now.

I guess it's better to not set a secret question at all, in the unlikely situation that you do NEED to reset it by that you get locked and as some topics in this board for months.. People should just use a secure protonmail just for the forum and have the logins in a safe place, hard to get locked out if you do that.
