I can not seem to send any TRC around I did a very small test amount, has not turned up in chain yet...

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

ASICs jump on the network for power block solving then jump off when the difficulty rises. This leaves no hash power to solve blocks when they are gone.

It wasn't ASICs.  Just bad luck. Difficulty was "only" 65433.161
