Is cloud mining still a good invesstments in 2k17 ?

A friend of mine told me about cloud mining in 2k14 and he said he made
his investment every 75 days
(like if you invest 300 dollars you get 300 dollars each 2.5 month)
so is it still a good investment today ?

Not only money the time to login and check your account is not worth it, the level of earnings are not worth all the trouble and will take a year to ROI and most earnings is eaten up by fees

Invest in cloudmining site is not a good option for your money. Its only good when the site is new and it will surely close one of the day and run your money. why don't you try trading you can have much higher return if you're good on it.

There will be no significant changes just due to the new year 2017 (as bitcoin prices are almost same levels at where it was in late 2016). Compared to two years back, bitcoin prices got appreciated 4 times where are mining difficulty raised more than 6 times. So, cloud mining will be the same like you must wait for tear long to gain back ROI.

Why would you invest in cloud mining? At the first place the ROI would take so long and it will turn scam in the long run. Find another way to earn some profit.

It's indeed ridiculously stupid to continue trying to squeeze profits out of an industry that has been only profitable to the operators of the cloud mining sites.

But that's unfortunately not how some people think as they still look into cloud mining even though it's only a huge waste of time and money due to the constant increasing difficulty.

Also take in mind that operators can boost their profits at the time they get greedy by increasing the maintenance fees significantly. Every bit of income that you was generating when a block was found, goes directly to waste.

It just leads to the same thing that people get caught up in: greed. The more greedy they are, the more they will "invest" in things that will only cost them money. But until people learn to THINK instead of be driven purely by greed, they will continue losing money.

While I'm reading your statement it makes me smile, But the word you mentioned was true and correct. I agreed on that things, even me I don't trust any cloud mining. Perhaps, the only member in bitcoin forum who's saying cloud mining is a good investment is the people trying to get the attention of others for them to recruit you only. Yes, it was happened to me before. I was invested some of my money in cloudmining site, and i ended got scammed by them (LTCgear). I was almost got scammed too when i invested in script.cc, fortunate i withdrew my money before it scammed me. From that both examples, i don't want invest my money again in any cloudmining sites.

Because when you invest in cloud mining you need to keep track of your return but what i observe is they are paying little amount on your investment, to get returns on your investment it will take some time.

The best answer is a simple NO. Whatever you do dont invest in any cloud mining operation. Most of them are ponzi schemes and if you ever find an honest one it will surely lose money. Think about it this way, how can a cloud mining business compete with todays industrial BTC miners from China some of who create their own Asics?

Legitimate cloud mining sites aren't really different from scam sites as they at some point will go through not profitable times due to the difficulty going higher.

If the legitimate cloud mining sites don't do anything to add gear to their farm, they will see their percentage of the network that they account for only go down, and thus less blocks being found.

It will leave them with a few options :

- They expand their mining operations in form of buying new hardware. Quite often this is not an option for them.
- They shut down their entire cloud mining operations where they eventually quit mining entirely.
- They simply increase their maintenance fees to such a level, that you end up seeing all your rewards vanish.

Mainly the latter option is the most interesting for them as it saves them quite a bit money since they don't have to pay people out anymore.

Just look at what happened with CEX as that is the perfect example of how legit cloud mining sites can go nuts and leave people in the red. It's a done industry.

Ok let's erase the fact that most cloudmining are scam. Let's say they are all legit and a trusted company, still with the current difficulty and mining rewards, no way we can get a good profit even you have to put lots of money on it. When I say lots of money, you really need a big capital to purchase power, to the point that the said amount is not worth the risk to test the profits out of it.

Let's back now to the reality of most cloudmining are ponzis. Did your friend mentioned what site he was talking about? Back in 2014, there are lots of cloudmining companies that pays their members not because they are a legit but because they attract lots of investors so they can keep paying all their investors. No mining operations really happened but only statistical computation based on current mining difficulty.

There are 2 different risks always associated with cloud mining.

- Profitability of cloud mining. Even cex.io is a trusted services, many investors with them were not satisfied with the returns they got. The prime influencing factor here must be mining difficulty. We never will be able to predict it.

- Credibility of mining service. If we invest into a fake cloud mining services, there would be no guarantee for even capital.

But, I guess we may get new trend in profitability of cloud mining in 2017 as bitcoin prices are above break even levels. Still, mining difficulty may over shade them

I have a bad experience with Cloud mining site, especially hashoceans. i got scammed there.

Everyone that has invested in a cloud mining site have already been scammed at this point except to those that invested in genesis mining and other new cloud mining sites. But we all know how it will end. History just repeats itself. There are new cloud mining sites that claim that they're legit but that's the very same thing cloud mining sites in the past said.

There are cloud mining sites like genesis mining that are still paying right now but it would take a lot of time before you can even ROI. I don't think an investment this slow is a good thing. You might as well just time deposit your money in the bank since you'll never earn much from these types of cloud mining sites as well. In the banks, you're sure that your money wouldn't be scammed.

I will give you some information regarding about "PONZI" just take note of this, it means "STEALING" or "ROB" that's most people said here if there is a site like cloudmining, hasheer, hashnest, zcash, bitminister, etc. Those mining sites that I mentioned was a ponzi scheme, which means once you join in there you are starting to throw your investment. Hope this things will help you with your concern.
