The grue lurks in the darkest places of the earth. Its favorite diet is adventurers, but its insatiable appetite is tempered by its fear of light. No grue has ever been seen by the light of day, and few have survived its fearsome jaws to tell the tale.

There is several names according to certain parameters : whale if you are wealthy, bagholder if you are supporting a dead altcoin at any cost and bitcoiner if you support Bitcoin. There is probably other ones, but I do not know them !

I agree majority of them don't know where to put their bag of shitloads, they ended up losing a lot of money but still on a loo up for a good coin to invest,it has become an additions for crypto currencies holders, unless you knows when it's time to exit.

I think it depends on the context of the conversation. Often times you will hear the term "adopter" used.

Bag Holders usually refers to people who hold a large number of dead coins and has no use with it and to my knowledge most of the crypto currency enthusiasts are really good traders who would move to the trend and i do not think there is a specific name at the moment, you can come up with your own if you want  Grin .

Most often the term used is "Investor"
..and most often it is a perverse usage of the word.

That conjures up the image of something legitimate and legal etc (when it's not)

I could not count how many times guys have used the word "investor" while simultaneously chanting on that Altcoins are like "penny stocks" ..which is a LIE !

Altcoins are far more like an MLM Pyramid / Ponzi scheme for profit more than a "Stock"
For one thing a company is not decentralized.
But these "currencies" claim to be decentralized.. so right there we have a conflict of ideology.

The chief complaint i have with people using the word "Investor" is..
users in crypto masquerade that term in an effort to make what their doing sound official and SAFE.
When in reality there are no real major stock market like regulations enforced in our crypto-world.
It (using the term) is a continuation of the trend that happened a couple years ago..
New players showed up on the scene and flooded this crypto world with every type of stock market / financial world jargon terminology they could think of.. from "White Paper" to "IPO" to "ICO" to "Investor" etc..

Crypto coins made by some anonymous schmuck in his basement using 30 accounts here to spam with are not a "Company" that investors are investing in.
For one thing there is no investors.. these people do not care if the project is legit.
It could be a fake company with no product or service for sale and they know it but would invest anyway.
There is a difference between a Pyramid scheme participant hoping to get rich and an investor hoping to aid a worthwhile project.

The terminology is a part of the scam.
All this shit is a charade and a fucking facade for PROFITS.
From whom does not matter or how.. or with what.

Bag-holder ?
Yeah it's used because it's a more accurate representation of what we have here.
I counted 6,000 ANN topics a year ago and those created a lot of bag-holders.
Users that will eventually have to come to the realization that they have to take a loss or keep on "hodling"
The list of bag-holders mounts by the day.. growing & growing.
..while some other guy is walking away with your Bitcoin.

Shill
would be an often accurate term too.
A bag-holder has to advocate his bags so others buy into them.
It's a term used to signify they are holders.

Investors usually have a reasonable chance at getting a ROI.
In crypto they have a 98% chance of walking away taking a loss.. that is the cold hard reality.
So the more appropriate term would be VICTIM.

Well if a project is a serious one and with a good potential in the market you call them adopters and investors but if they wrongly invested in the wrong project and they ended up with a useless coin, then you can call this type of holders as "bag holders" and believe there are many bag holders than adopters here.

I think it depends on the context of the conversation. Often times you will hear the term "adopter" used.
This is a more generic term. But there are other terms, more specific to the occasion. For example, I see that many users who adopt Bitcoin use the term "Bitcoiner".

Well, staff went ape-shit deleting replies.. i had 4 deleted.
My reply here to alien-fx2 was..

Bitcoin Maximalist

A term i only ever seen in the ALTCOIN SECTION used by Shitcoin defenders (used as an insult)
Apparently pointing that out violated a rule.  Cheesy
..they need to earn their keep here though (MOD's here are NOT volunteers they are paid for it)

--  Generously donating premium top-shelf FUD to the community since 2013   --
..and keeping the lights on and rent paid for MOD's (i make the FUD and they are paid to delete it)  Grin  Cool  Shocked
