Two years ago I setup an Armory wallet offline (USB) with it's online pair in my personal computer. By error I deleted the online wallet, but I thought it wasn't a problem since I have my offline wallet save.
Yesterday I tried to access to my offline, but i forgot my ubuntu password. Now I don't know what to do, the only thing I could find in my computer was a folder with files using the extension .wallet and .watchonly.wallet and a paper backup. But I'm not sure which wallet is all this files from: the offline or online.

Is it possible to recover my bitcoins?

thanks

Can you remember the password for the wallet.dat which you used few years ago? if yes, you could just install bitcoin core and import the keys to electrum or such.
Also are the files on ubuntu? If yes, do you remember the ubuntu password at all or can you access the wallet.dat or such on the ubuntu?
Waiting for your reply so i can help you better.

Cheers, Onni

in my paper backup I have the 12 words for recovering root key and chain code. The problem is I don't know if this backup is from the online or the offline (is it possible?)(is that a problem??). The folder i found with .wallet and .watchonly.wallet and a paper backup is on my personal computer, so is accessible. The offline wallet is in Ubuntu, but since I don't remember the user password i can't access to the wallet. Besides, it's home directory is encrypted...

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask me again if I'm not clear with my explanations.

If you have the seed on paper, install the electrum from here: https://electrum.org/

Then open electrum, press standard wallet, then "i already have a seed" enter your 12 word seed, press options and tick BIP39, then press continue and it asks for optional password. Then voila. You have the bitcoins usable again and you can send them to any address where you want to Smiley

You should be fine if you backed up the address.

Armory isn't compatible with any other wallets, as far as I know.

To restore Armory, you just need the root key. Follow this tutorial and enter your root key: https://www.bitcoinarmory.com/tutorials/armory-basics/restore-wallet/.

Can you press "export key list" from armory?
You can import them to electrum if you can get the private keys out from the armory.

Edit: i have personally never used armory, so i don't know how it works. I think that armory uses bitcoin core for the connections yes? One option then would be to download the bootstrap.dat manually.

Since Armory depends on Bitcoin Core, it won't show the balance until it reaches the block where bitcoins were transferred to those addresses.

However as onnz423 says above, if you can export the private (and perhaps public keys) from Armory, then you can import them elsewhere, such as Electrum, and go from there.

Yes. Electrum does not need to download the whole blockchain. It synces wtih the network almost immediately. If you are able to export your private keys from armoury, just do it and import them into electrum. Trust me you'll be doing yourself a huge favour.

Electrum is a godsend.

No you don't have to wait for anything. Just export them and do the rest like the others told you already.

Tbh i don't know how armoury works because i never used it but if its anything like the original core wallet, its more or less the same.

your exported keys will mostly look like;

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

before the "," its your public address, and after the "," its the private key.

don't  cut or crop anything. Copy paste em all into electrum.

correction: maybe I couldn't remember it correctly, you may only need to import the private key part (the second part) into electrum by cropping it. try it out Smiley

yeaa!! i recovered my password and could access to my offline wallet! the only problem now is Electrum is not recovering my wallet. I made a backup of both addresses in my wallet and I have:
PrivBase58
PrivHexBE
PublicX
PublicY
(each followed by its key) for each adress (2).
I'm trying to make a new wallet on electrum with the private key PrivBase58. But it gets stuck in "please wait".
Any clue?
