Another alt-coin project that hasn't gotten as much attention as it deserves is:

https://bitmessage.org/wiki/Main_Page

It's not actually a coin, but rather uses the block chain to be able to send encrypted messages that are verifiably from a particular sender. It's very cool and maybe something we should all adopt in the future.

would it be of any use? You couldn't read what was in the blockchain anyway.

It would be interesting to see how many addresses some mailing lists send to. Or if many people use multiple identities to communicate (highly likely)

It would be cool to allowed HTML in bitmessages. Send encrypted websites.

Isn't this a block explorer for bitmessage http://bitmessage.hyse.org/ ?

Surely there are more messages than this? And they are publicly readable? Weird
