I just received an R4 which was tested/purchase/burned in" by another and purchased from him via eBay. He included a note in the box with a static IP address.

I have powered it up, via an antminer APW5 PSU (brand new) and was unable to locate ANY IP address (default or the static one). When I follow the initial setup process and press the "IP Report" button, I immediately get a red light (fault) and am stuck at this point.

I have "re-booted" (powered on/off) several times and wind up at the same place/..red light.

Do I need to update the firmware..reinstall the firmware?Huh

Any suggestions/help will be greatly appreciated.

Can't see something connected to your router?  That's where I look first to find any hardware on the network...

Correct, I can't see it on the router/network.

I used "advanced IP scanner" and located all of my other connected devices. No antminer with either the previously assigned static IP or any other IP.

That's not good.  I'd suggest you not screw with it and return it.  Hope you got buyer protection of some sort - I'd say return it and try again with a different seller...  Undecided

Got the IP and am currently mining!!!

I just needed to (for a second time) do the reset routine.

The 2nd time was the charm - it reassigned a IP an away I went!

Now to go to Antminer and purchase my second R4 ... one of the just made available new R4s.

This newbie home miner is off and running!

okay here goes  what is your routers  address?

  some are 192.168.0.1

some are 192.168.1.1
others are 192.168.10.1

almost  every router has one of the 3 addresses above.

so if your miner was set to a static 192.168.0.222

and you router is

192.168.1.1  or 192.168.10.1   it won't "see"  the miner set with  192.168.0.222

so tell us your routers address
tell us your miners static address
