Hello everyone and sorry to bother you with a question that is surely retarded by i am new to all this bitcoins thing and i was wondering why i make only namecoin while mining? i'm wondering that because their value is far lower than BTC value?

When i check my account i only see namecoins going up

Thanks for your answers !

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Telling us which miner you're using and where you mine would be a good place to start. Smiley

They use a special kind of reward algorithm to ensure miners are rewarded the appropriate amount because certain people found a way to game mining pools before by doing something called "pool hopping."

I'm unsure of BitMinter specifically, but you'll probably need to mine there a few hours to start earning BTC. You don't "lose" the coins you would've earned during this time, but there's a kind of delay in you being credited them.

Yep.

Found a page on BitMinter which might help. http://bitminter.com/shifts

Looks like you should start seeing BTC in your account after ~1h20m of mining if I'm reading that right. Doesn't really explain why you have NMC in your account, though. They might not use their "shift" system there.
