I've always wanted to make my very own faucet for an altcoin. However, I wonder how easy it would be to setup one, as well as how popular it might become once established.

I don't happen to know of any good open source faucet scripts that would help me get started, but if you happen to know of a few, then I would appreciate if you would share then with me.

Also, I'm not quite sure what would the minimum requirements would be to setup the faucet at a web hosting site, as I'm more interested in building it on a free host if possible.

Nevertheless, I would like to know what would you recommend me about this, as I'm planning to make my own faucet to help attract newbies into Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as well as to profit from it.  Smiley

I have a list of faucet scripts :
http://bitcoins4free.altervista.org/bitcoin-faucet-scripts/
Mostly of these scripts supports only dogecoin or litecoin from altcoins. If you want to make altcoin faucet, I think it would be best to use ePay.info service and their script. They have few popular altcoins and have plans to add more to theor service.

And don't expect profit from faucet. First of all, it would be good not to lose money Smiley

dont do it with a free host. you will just waste time and money.

get a real domain and paid hosting (find some cheap stuff like namecheap...they take bitcoin)

then get a good faucet script and start editing.

good luck with your future site.

Hi, there. do you mind if i ask you a question? Is there a way to integrate both ePay, and faucethub.io in one faucet so people from those 2 platforms both can earn from my faucet? Or is that impossible? I'm interested to see/know if that's possible. Please let me know. Kind regards!

Thanks guys for your advices and list of faucet scripts. Even though I may not profit from this, it would still be worth a try especially with a free host to see how it works.

The paid hosting would be ideal for sure, and maybe if I get a lot of traffic then I could profit a little from it. It would only take some time and patience, as well as being able to have vast amounts of traffic and advertising content to become successful with making a faucet.

Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to try this out on ETC and ZEC.  Smiley

Thanks for the encouragement, mate. I will try my best by gathering the most amount of traffic possible, to really earn some profit out of it. If successful, it could turn out to become a very good source of passive income. I hope that I could come up with interesting ideas for the faucet, to help attract people into it, especially those who are new to cryptocurrencies.

Nevertheless, if you or anyone else have any other good ideas for the faucet, please let me know. I'm always open to learn about anything crypto-currency related, to help me use it efficiently, as well as maximize my chances of profit.  Grin

If you're lazy and have no will to work hard on your faucet, then no, it's not worth it.

It's going to be hard and painful to see your balance going lower and lower, while you don't get paid by ad networks when you need the money mostly.
You'll need to have at least some bitcoin upfront, so you can keep paying your users and not expecting any gains for at least 1.5-2 months.
Coding skills = BIG plus.

If you can do the above, then yes, it's worth it.

Make sure you understand CPM/how much you can pay based on it.
Make sure you use trusted ad nets, which wont run away with your coins.
Make sure you don't get influenced by anyone who'll be saying how much you need to pay.

There's a lot of factors, but the most valuable advice I can give you is not to have high expectations when you first start -anything-, not just faucets.

Good luck Smiley

I think that if the OP does not have the necessary skills to solve this problem, there is the possibility of hiring a professional for this, but the costs would increase, of course. There is also the possibility of trying to acquire such skills, and considering the knowledge gained in this, the experience can make the efforts worthwhile.

While there is talk about antifraud Smiley, I saw the last time on all my faucets, there was 12 days since last reversed payout, could it be it's not working properly, or it has really been 12 days ?

It's been stuck since Jan 26th

Noticed it 5 minutes ago, funny how no one contacted me about it. It's been stuck since date given above. All "stolen" coins will be returned to faucet owners. Script was edited and there was a small bug, which didn't allow script run in general

Thanks for the good advice, mate. I'll take that into consideration when starting my very own faucet. While I'm still learning the ropes of coding, it would be best for me to use any pre-made script to get started. It would be somewhat difficult to earn good money with faucets, as you would need to attract huge traffic and get a lot of ads, but still it would be for fun and learning.

I'm planning to make faucets for cryptocurrencies which don't have any, as having one would help attract newbies into a specific altcoin.

Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to become successful with this someday in the future.  Roll Eyes

You want create a faucet for an altcoin? maybe if you choose wisely you can identify a good coin without faucet and then working on it.
But I don't think it really worth the effort.

Not at all. You'll be spending hours a day promoting your faucet and running anti-bot/cheat measures. It may seem like a fun experience as it's a new idea and all (and with a bit of profit, it's a win-win!), but trust me when I say the fun will be gone, along with a few bitcoins out of your pocket, in a few weeks/months.

Making a faucet is only good if you have a large amount of bitcoins you're willing to spend to get it started up, as well as the commitment. You also won't be seeing profit at all for the first few months, as someone mentioned above. Even after that point, the going will be slow.

Not worth it.

You want create a faucet for an altcoin? maybe if you choose wisely you can identify a good coin without faucet and then working on it.
But I don't think it really worth the effort.

Yes. I'm more inclined to make a faucet for an altcoin, than Bitcoin since there are many faucets around that giveaway satoshis for free. Usually, it would be best to pick up an altcoin which doesn't have a faucet to take advantage of the situation, and make good profit once it becomes viral.

But I believe that it would take a lot of effort to achieve success with this, so in the meantime I will just test it out on a free host.  Wink

Thanks for your advice, mate. I will take that into consideration when launching my own faucet towards the public. But in the meantime, I will test out some faucet scripts within a free web hosting provider, just to see how it works and at the same time gain knowledge by building the same for a specific altcoin.

Later, I would consider to go serious with this when I have obtained a good amount of capital, to get started with this project. It would be nice to see how it would turn out to be, especially with an altcoin which lacks a faucet.  Roll Eyes
