The surface is a bit rough, but not as rough as it looks like in the pictures. Texts and image are matte.

All of those wallets are sorta bumpy like that. My assumption is that they are blanks that normally get fed into dies (that makes them smooth). I do not think it looks bad and it almost gives the coins a little bit of character (sort of unique).
