I have a box I've never opened. It's a game, of sorts. I've yet to find any information about the game on the internet. I wonder what's inside. Care to make a guess?

No.

The contents of the box is stated on the one of the side panels, but that doesn't negate the statement of wondering what's inside.

I don't believe it was a major product on the market, hence not finding anything on the internet. Somebody surely would have mentioned it by now.

The outfit that put it out had an Inc. address in Denver.

Let me get this right we are guessing on what non popular game you have from back in the day just by box dimensions and Denver?

I guess mousetrap, that game was the best. Although I know that was to popular to be this game.

The box is prominently colored black with silver and white lettering, still wrapped in its original plastic shrinkwrap.

At some point, I will take a pic of it, offering up an image to prove it exist and is in my possession.

The word pirate is written on the box at least once.

In future when Bitcoin dominates the universe and 1 satoshi costs a lot, pirate40 will repent sincerely and invest 0.01 btc into research of time machine.... then he will collect painfully all the stolen coins and send them back to the trusted community member in a box with his apologies...

So my guess is stolen coins and a letter from pirate

Nope! Real box. Real game from 1985.

A side panel of the box reads:

Quote
Combine your love of problem solving with the thrills, mystery and swashbuckling adventure of a real pirate treasure hunt.

I did not make up the above, and will offer proof of such text later.

The contents is the box rattle when shoke.

Very nice guess, but no, albeit ONLY one word of your 7 word submission is part of the overall name of the game.

Which one of the following is it?:

Out of all the guesses since I last posted, Treasure is still the only word of the 9 word name written on the box. Technically, the name consist of 3 words, with the other 6 being the description, of sorts. Both phrases are separately TM (in fact, I'm now going to hunt via that route, myself). Of the six words acting as the description, one is technically a number with a dollar symbol ($) in front of it.

The 3 main words are written in silver, whereas the other 6 words are written in white.

Now, I'm pissed! It seems I've been trolled from 1985, for this wasn't registered at the TM office, nor did the company ever registered Inc. papers in Colorado. I bet they would have a hard time doing the same in today's computer age, for who would have taken the time in 1985 to call and verify if such-and-such is truly incorporated.

Just goes to show, never trust a Pirate.

Continue to guess.

Been doin some searching, but there are som many games from that period. But are running dry. Huh

The mermaid treasure might be it. Grin

It's most likely a card-game or a board-game, with a title along the lines of "Captain <Insert scary name here>'s treasure!" and "Find the $<large number>  chest of gold!

Captain is a keyword.

Not a boardgame, and honestly can't classify it as a card-game, although cards are included in the box according to the contents paragraph on a side panel.

I may be the only person having an unopened box of this game, for it was designed to be too tempting to open it.

I don't remember where I got it from. Probably something that just caught my eye at some yard sale years ago and paid a quarter for it (seriously), now giving out clues so that I can at least get some entertainment value out of the damn thing.

I'm pretty sure the concept can be repeated, of sorts, to bring to market a similar game based on Bitcoin, thus bringing more awareness to Bitcoin to lag Mt Gox's servers even more, for that's goal, ain't it?

I'm almost tempted to open it up, now knowing that its value isn't really that much, thus possibly pursuing its contents, then figuring out how to improve upon the idea via incorporating Bitcoin into the mix.

Anybody want to turn this into a community project?

Sounds interesting - please give more details

Captain Kidd's LegacyTM contains a treasure map, a 100-piece Captain Kidd's Legacy puzzle, a cipher sheet, a crossword sheet, a maze sheet, 8 limericks cards, a registration card, and official rulebook.

If protective seal is broke, opportunity for cash prize may be eliminated. This game is sold solely for amusement.

I wonder what protective seal it's in reference to.

I don't have the accompanied video with this box, just the game contents that are within--still.
