You should educate yourself on transaction fees to avoid these kinds of scenarios. If you look at your TX here, you will see that you've included a TX fee of ~26 satoshis/byte whilst the current recommended one is at ~120 satoshis/byte [1]. In other words, you included fee is almost 5 times smaller than it should be. If the TX doesn't process after a while, the network will eventually drop it and you can create a new TX.

Your transaction fee is fairly low. You only paid a fee rate of ~26 satoshis/byte, the current recommended fee rate is 120 satoshis/byte according to http://bitcoinfees.21.co/.

You have a few options. You can wait for it to confirm, wait for it to drop from the network and resend with a higher fee, attempt a double spend with a transaction that has a higher fee, or ask a miner to confirm it.

For the 3rd option, there should be an option for you to tell your wallet to clear all unconfirmed transactions so you can then resend the transaction but with an appropriate fee.

For the 4th option, you can contact the users Quickseller and macbook-air. You can also use https://www.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator/.

A fixed fee is a bad idea. The fee that is appropriate is mostly determined by two factors: 1. TX size (the size of your transaction); 2. The recommended fee-rate in satoshis/byte. For example:
TX size 300 bytes with recommended fee of 10 satoshis/byte (example) would require a fee of ~3 000 satoshis.
TX size 300 bytes with a recommended fee of 120 satoshis/byte (current) would require a fee of ~36 000 satoshis.

You should look into Multibit settings and adjust them so that the wallet includes higher fees.

Cheers mate i've sent way over over the ampunt in the past tears and never had this,,,,,,i will have a look in preferences or simialer.
In the past it was even possible to get zero-fee transactions to confirm as the network didn't have this much activity. Currently the network is congested. You can see the information required here:
https://bitcoinfees.21.co/

That will show you the number of unconfirmed/confirmed TXs in each fee-rate range and the recommended TX fee (end of page).
