How to get a ripple account?!

All this talk and excitement surrounding ripple... and I can't sign up!
How do i get an account, i wanna try it out!

just go to ripple.com and sign up for a wallet
you can't really do anything with it until you recieve 300 xrp from someone else

What frustrated me at first is that a ripple wallet doesn't work on anything other than a PC browser (as far as my digital arsenal of devices).
