Purse.io is giving the option to buy anything from amazon using bitcoin since a long time. However, MIT offers something equally interesting. If the normal people starts using bitcoin to buy goodies, that's a good development.

However, will it make normal people interested about bitcoin? If it does, then the initiative will be fruitful otherwise, it makes no sense. Bitcoin at this position, needs mass adoption to reach new heights. Otherwise, it will just become a traders game.

i think if there are many people spreading news about bitcoin in many places, normal people will be interested about bitcoin and they will be curious and will do searching and if they think that bitcoin is really good for them, i am sure that they will use bitcoin soon or later. i can say this because this is what happen to me when i know bitcoin for first time.

as far I know, only works on amazon.com, and the sites don`t sell gift cards for bitcoin for people outside the USA.

of course one may try the workaround of using a proxy, but not sure if would work or not

Another big step by the company who did this and indeed a good one. I hope to see more of this. I guess I will just google it if they are doing shipping. This kind of sellers are the ones who should be supported, not the illegal stuff that have been killing bitcoin in people's mind.

The mainstream media is always trying to paint the Bitcoin (and the other crypto-currencies) as a payment system used exclusively by the drug sellers and pedophiles. MIT is always innovative and a very jealous supporter of bitcoin. As far as it concerns bookstores which accept bitcoin I would like to add the British Columbia's Simon Fraser University (SFU) that its campus bookstore began to accept bitcoin payments from 26th May 2015. I wish and other bookstores especially the big online ones to accept bitcoins in payment options.
