hey just wondering if anybody has some ideas on how to get bitcoins with a credit card

I know its almost impossible to find someone who accepts credit card payment for BTC.. so what if I buy amazon gift cards with my credit card and then trade them for btc? is there any other ways which might be cheaper for me? (because i doubt ppl will pay full price for gift cards)

thanks

Virwox.com accepts credit-cards, but you can not buy BTC directly. You will first need to buy "Linden Dollars" with your credit-card on Virwox, then use Linden Dollars to buy the BTC.

But beware, it will make you lose abit money due to "slippage". They charge percentage of purchase in fees, and since you need to buy Linden Dollars and then buy BTC, the sales fees will effectively be doubled.

Also, you need to pay attention to BTC prices there. The BTC price can be up to like 25-50% higher than on MtGox.

But hey, if someone who reads this got BTC to sell, that means you could make a few quick bucks!

I have used Virwox myself for a long time and they have a stable and reliable service. They are located in Europe, Switzerland.

If you choose wire-transfer they are very fast! I have sent several wire-transfers to them since I am located in Europe myself, and every time I did wire-transfer, I got my money into my virwox-account within 24 hours. (I always sent the wire between 8am and 9am the day before just to point that out)

Beware tho, Virwox may decide to "quarantine" your bitcoins in order to avoid credit-card charge-backs/fraud. So do not expect to get your bitcoins into your local wallet very quick, unless you decide to fully verify your identity sending ID papers etc.

mmmm. At least on my account, they sometimes quarantined the bitcoins for 7-14 days.

But after I fully verified my account, they usually send my coins within 24 hours now. I verified my ID by sending copy of my driver-license AND used wire-transfer several times, from my bank account with my real name, which gave them proof enough to give me higher security-level and faster bitcoin payout.

Have you considered checking out localbitcoins.com to see if theres a local bitcoin dealer nearby your home? You might be lucky and find someone nearby with good ratings on that web site.

you can contact them through the web-site. Who knows, maybe you are in luck and it's a good dealer.

But, use common sense ok. I would not trust a random guy i meet there with high amount of money. At least not until i've met him a few times and feel he's not up to something fishy.

And if you manage to agree for a personal meeting with a guy from that web-site, always demand to meet at a public place where theres other people around. Don't wanna end up being mugged in a alley somewhere, you know.

That web-site is like craigslist.com for bitcoins, so you could end up meeting a crazy guy for what i know. LOL.

So, as they say "Buyer beware!"

Virwox is #1 for small amounts. If you want to do anything large, the easiest way is to buy "paper bitcoin" through plus500. There is a thread about it here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195943.0

Have used them myself and it was very smooth and easy (and they gave me a huge bonus  Grin )

Credit cards are basically instantaneous instead of waiting for ACH/Wire transfers to go through. Plus I'm pretty sure almost all Americans are using plastic these days, so it's convenient and familiar.

I've used Virwox also, fees are pretty steep though including exchanging from that game currency.  The only way to get Bitcoin with credit card that i'm aware of.

Are there any bitcoin exchanges that accept credit card aside from Virwox?  I really don't like converting to Linden Dollars first.
