I am quite new to the whole mining aspect of Bitcoin, but from what I can gather, I will be needing a new graphic card.

My system: https://i.imgur.com/UXz1Xi8.jpg

Cards: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison#Graphics_cards

What would fit in my computer?

The difficulty level is increasing significantly right now. You may or may not see a payoff on your card purchases unless BTC prices rise again. If you're really interested though, fast AMD cards are the way to go right now with the 7970 leading the pack.

I'll give you the same advice I give everyone else: if you're looking for an excuse to upgrade your gaming rig and picking up a few BTC over the next month or two is enough to push it into 'buy' territory for you, it's OK. If you're looking to get rich quick, you're already too late.

I am looking to exploit a computer that is already running 24/7 Wink

But I know nothing about hardware, and I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a card that is compatible with my motherboard.

Edit:

This must be my motherboard: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4084#sp

1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16
1 x PCI Express x1 slot
2 x PCI slots

Raedon HD 7770 needs:

"PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard."

I think that would work.

7770 is pretty useless in terms of mining speed
look at 7850 at least

I have the 7970, and it gets about 510 Mh/s on average. Just be warned, if you really wanna blow $300-$400 for a card like that, you have to realize mining is very intensive and will wear it out faster than just regular use.
