Bitcoin update problem ( € 150,- for the solution)

Hi guys,

I still have a lot of bitcoins on an to old version of electrum (1.
As most of you know you cant transfer bitcoins with the 1.8 version.

I still have the .dat file, private-keys and seed. I tried to update electrum 1.8 to 2.6.4 and 2.7.4.
After the update all my btc are gone or not visible. If I run the 1.8 version all my bitcoins r still there?

Anyone have ideas on how I can reach en send my BTC to another wallet?

the following options I already tried :

1. Copied the .dat file on a USB, download electrum 2.6.4 on a other computer, open the wallet.dat file. The problem is that the wallet keeps synchronizing?

2. Restored seed on the 2.6.4 version and 2.7.4. In both cases nothing happens.

3. imported private keys in the newer versions (2.6 and 2.7) If I import all my private keys a white popup screen pops up. Again nothing happens except electrum gets stuck.

can someone help me with this one? maybe i overlooked something.

From which version did you get the private keys, and what is the format of the private keys?

Can you see the right balance for all inputs (pubkeys) using a block explorer?

i did get the private keys from the 1.8 version
Never heard of a block explorer? can you explain?

You received bitcoins at addresses that you can check from any block explorer like https://blockchain.info

Just lookup the address(es) you received the coins at. Check the transactions and final balance. Then you will know for sure that the coins are still seen as unspent from the blockchain point of view (as opposed to your client).

Then if you get the private keys in a standard format, you could theoretically move your coins from any recovery tool that let you import raw private keys into your wallet.

I'm sorry if I just stating the obvious here, but options need to be explored first.

From what I know, the wallet contains more than one address.
If importing the private key shows not money in the new version, then you imported an address with no money.
If you can see on Blockchain.info real amount on one or more of your addreses, you have to import the private keys of those addresses.

Armory, or the original Bitcoin Core would be the first choices, I guess. But they require full chain to operate so it could take very long to get them ready if you haven't already.

Online wallets like blockchain.info let you import private keys, but you need to format them right.

Edit: obviously you need to distinguish between the seed used by HD or otherwise deterministic wallets, and private keys that receive your coins. Your wallet is made of all those keys/addresses. The public key corresponding to the private keys would be the adresses themselves.

Stop messing about with private keys and don't use other software. You should be able to restore from seed using electrum itself. Download and install the latest version of electrum. The versions you are using are all old. Then do a wallet restore using your seed. Give it time to sync. Does it work now?

If it doesn't then run electrum to create a new wallet file. This is so that you can get to the window with the menus. Switch to a different electrum server via tools menu > network. Now try a restore from seed again (file > new/restore).

Yeah, the seed and private keys should be plenty to restore the bitcoins in the latest version of Electrum ( which is 2.7.18 currently ).

If you are still having issues restoring with the latest version, I recommend that you backup and remove the Electrum data folder from your User directory and download/install the latest version of Electrum. Restore from the seed and then let Electrum fully sync which may take some time. You will want to wait until you see the green light indicating it is fully synced. Once it is synced, you should see your coins assuming the seed is correct.

If the seed doesn't work, you can also try manually importing the private keys into a new wallet in the latest version of Electrum, but the seed method is the recommended method.
