I've been keeping my eye on Bitcoin for a while. I won't be paying for BTC at current rates, or investing in a mining rig (unless it's down the road and paid for with BTC.) I was recently struck by the reality of the limit of the number of Bitcoins. I knew this from day 1, but it recently hit me. Which has led me to the question, what is the best way to make coins without mining or purchasing?

It seems my only shot is clicking away on "free BTC" websites. I value my time and if I waste it in such a way I may as well dump real money into BTC.

As I have started studying Cryptology (Go Coursera!) I am realizing more and more, the necessity of an (pseudo)anonymous cryptocurrency in the modern world. Bitcoins aren't going anywhere, and their number is limited. I want to be apart of the new economy.

Thoughts?

PS I couldn't think of the ideal forum. I figured marketplace may be the closest thing to my topic.

I think my first goal will be to get 75, or whatever BTC it will take to get an ASIC, even if the difficulty is exponentially higher than now I will at least be guaranteed SOME constant stream of coins so I could passively stay involved in the economy/community.

The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

There's investments like pyramining but stay
 away from those.

know the best way? Sell something. I just bought alpaca socks using Bitcoins. The rich bitcoiners live supporting btc only merchants.

I already have acquired .0000044 BTC  Grin

First time since I began lurking in 2011 I have actually owned any coins. Feels good to be in, even if it's just chump change.

If you run a website or two, I'd recommend giving a BitCoin googe-adsense style service a try. https://coinurl.com/ is a good service for this. Have been both a publisher and an advertiser on their service.

If you have some sort of skill, figure out some way to market it and get some BTC the good old-fashioned way: With hard work.

Can you write? Check out http://www.devtome.com/doku.php to earn Devcoins by writing wiki pages, then exchange those on Vircurex for BTC instead.

Can you do anything musical? Set up a Youtube channel or something, don't set up ads, and instead set up a Bitcoin tipping address. Link it in your signature or other places on the forums to attract attention.

Can you program (or, at least, do you think you can program)? There seem to be a ton of "programming" jobs in the Sevices section of the marketplace.

Most of all, my advice is to think outside the box a bit. Clever ideas inherently attract more attention.
