The coin for which detail you are asking is a gold coin , and if you go in auction section you can find lot of this type of coins going for auction and even under goods section you can find the collectibles section where you can find lot of cool coins created for Bitcoin.

They are silk road coins? Shocked
If you can find them in real gold not those fake ones on Ali express
they would be worth millions!  Cool

I don't consider them to be "physical bitcoins" because they contain no bitcoin value like real physical bitcoins. They are probably replicas, but without seeing both sides it is hard to tell. There are many companies that make physical bitcoin replicas. Many of these replicas are combinations of different coins. They are certainly not gold.

I tried to look up for these coins online and I couldn't find anything solid, other that they can be bought from Amazon and Aliexpress there is no info who is behind them.
These coins appear to be more of a cheap souvenir and not container where you can store bitcoins. Anyone has more info on them?

@odolvlobo you can see both sides here: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3pcs-BTC-Gold-silver-copper-Plated-Physical-Bitcoin-souvenir-coin-silk-road/32342022401.html

How those containers work? If the real coin made from gold add value to the money stored, or I just don't get something?

Containers are physical bitcoins that can actually hold some bitcoin on the blockchain. They would have a btc address labelled on the coin's backside so to load it with these bitcoins on that reside on the blockchain.

Here is the original article that I got a look of this coin off of a twitter post about a govt crackdown with bitcoin software on their servers so it would make sense if they used confiscated silk road coins in the press picture. Smiley

He was mining for 2 years on huge farm, lucky him, I wish they would have linked to the blocks he mined. Even with the 100k fine, and 12 months probation I am sure he came out ahead with mining for that long

They are collectible physical bitcoin. You can get some of these on Service->Goods->collectibles. Some coins are infused with bitcoin and some are just for collection purposes.
Oh! Wait theres a raffle there which you can win a rare coin and ofcourse theres 1 btc in it. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1773283.0

Yes, Its physical bitcoins. However, we do not need to physical bitcoins to handle when we having multiple types of wallet with us. I noticed the shared thread but it will cost you the value more than 1 btc value for one physical btc.

The coin for which detail you are asking is a gold coin , and if you go in auction section you can find lot of this type of coins going for auction and even under goods section you can find the collectibles section where you can find lot of cool coins created for Bitcoin.

Technically the coin in that picture that phr0stbyt3 posted isn't .999 Gold. The coin might be a Gold-plated version though the metal looks like copper -you could see the color difference when you look at the side of the coin in the picture.

If you can't see it then look at this picture:

With the proper lighting and some Photoshop the coin would look like authentic Gold as the completed product.
If someone wanted to make a .999 Gold version of this coin they would make some money though the cost of production might be too high to make any money from it.

This website also has a version of the coin that looks fancier than the Silk-Road design if you are interested: https://myanonstore.com/products/anonymous-bitcoin-investment-grade-copper-collectible-coin

Again that is just Copper, not .999 Gold or Gold plated.

Maybe you will find what you are looking for someday.

Those are old time coins. Cheesy
The more recent coins are more sharp and have different metals like silver and gold incorporated in their designs which makes them more pretty.
And those coins do not have a bitcoin address engraved or hologram on them to tell the owner how much is on them unless they are just marked as "One BTC" and that is what they are worth.

Hi Lionidas,

I couldn't find "old time coins" in the Google search engine. phr0stbyt3 is looking for the make of the coin not just some pointless explanation of what you think the coin is. Do you have a link to where the OP could purchase the coin?

It looks like you are 100% sure that you know what you are typing about so I am going to guess that you have pictures of those recent Silver and Gold versions of the coin in the OP. Shouldn't be hard to locate right?

Those are just representations of physical bitcoins, however I am unsure if they are solid gold or not.

They could be silk road coins, in that case they would be pretty valuable. I think you can find replicas such as those on Ali Express.
