Hi, I am completely new to the whole bitcoin thing and as a poor uni student am very interested in the world of mining. I downloaded GUIminer and followed the simple instructions. I created a BTC Guild account and have been trying to figure out how to get to work since. When I click Start mining it says 'Starting' then says 'Connecting' but then just sits at Connecting. I have disabled all firewalls. What have I done wrong?

Here is my console.

You might want to edit out your username/password from your post.

Now I'll use them to..well.. mine bitcoins for you. Yeah, take that.

The issue is not that but username/password replication. You wouldn't believe how many people use the same username login and password for every website they have an account for. We could totally hijack his facebook page!  Grin

I think I read that the Sony PSN passwords had a 80% correlation to the Gizmodo hack data.

I have CUDA. Could I also have OpenCL or is it one or the other?

You could use either, but the OpenCL miners tend to be better supported.
