Have you ever accidentally send Bitcoin to the wrong person?  Or sent the wrong amount?

I did.  Like a fool.  Last night I was playing around with it and falling asleep at the same time.  

I tried to upload 17 bitcoins to Mt.Gox... but I went to my addressbook and saw one unlabeled address.  Thinking, oh that must be the new address just created, I'll use that one...  I sent it to that address.   Of course, instantly I remembered that it creates new addressed when RECEIVING money, not when sending it.  Duhhh.   I went back to Mt.Gox and it just has a box to enter the amount.  Only AFTER you submit that, then it tells you the address to send it to.  

Oh well.   One of my contacts received a surprise of 17 BTN last night.  Paying it forward.

What would I do if it had been 170,000 BTN....?      

I might not be so happy letting it go then....

PS - Is the proper abbreviation BTN or BTC or BCN?   I can never remember.

BTC is commonly used. Well, your problem is misunderstanding of the concept of bitcoins. Strangely enough to create addresses to send money from. You already have money why should you create addresses to pay? Anyway, I believe it's just you who made such a mistake. Now I have bitcoin extension for chrome (oh, I'd send 50 BTC to the author, works like a charm) and just can't mess with addresses when sending some coins to anybody.

Clearly you need to make sure that you can't easily access your entire bitcoin savings at once. :-)

I do always have a feeling of responsibility or control or something when I'm sending. It's different than most things online which you can just undo or cancel or whatever. Bitcoin seems more real I guess.

Someone actually said they sent me a payment when they hadn't and it turned out they sent it to someone else. It was a bit more than 17BTC and luckly he knew who it was and was able to get it back from the person.

Is this something to worry about? You get a virus or bad program and whenever you copy a bitcoin addy it replaces the data in your clipboard with it's own address. I look at a few digits on big sends just in case, lol. Also protects against the copy not having worked and the previous addy still being on clipboard.

This is just my experience, I've never experienced it, but I've seen on Blockchain transactions, that there is someone who does foolishness when it costs the delivery of Bitcoin, whether he's sleepy or drinking mostly alcohol, that he's wrong when setting costs, and he's setting shipping costs of 50 BTC, and he even sent Bitcoin a little bit like sending a shipping fee ..

My advice would be trying to reach out to the one owning that address as much as possible if that’s not necessary as you have so much in position then that’s better..

This happened to me that carelessly sent 1btc to my friend address that goes wrong,, I’ve contacted the person and willingly send back the same amount.. As a token of appreciation I’ve sent erc20 token as a reward..

I have an experience of it but in my in my scenario I send bitcoin in my friends account because I copy his btc address because I think thats his referral code, but in the end he return to me my bitcoin and we laugh together.

I am very aware of what I am doing, I am not saying that I am the perfect guy but its just that I always over think what I am doing the reason why I always take my time on transacting my Digital currencies especially Bitcoin. Personally, I never send my BTC to a wrong person, whenever i do transaction i triply check the address.

We used to call it BTC as its abbreviation. Playing Bitcoin while sleepy will make you regret when you wake up bru. Why not play BTC? First it is money meaning have a amount of value, you will never mind it if you were millionaire already. Second it is not refundable, if you sent it on anonymous address it cannot be refunded or cannot bring back to you, you were lucky if you would get that again. Third wallet address is computer generated address it would be difficult to trace specially if you send it into no ones account.
As on my opinion on this topic Bitcoin transaction is like business transaction if you do it wrong you will lose what you have.

Uncertain. Bitcoin is of great value and sometimes you need to be cautious about the risks of counterfeit accounts or crypto market transactions. I was cautious and looked very carefully at the case of dealing with bitcoin or other crypto. Bar codes and wallet codes must be properly reviewed and copied.

Dude seriously this is really very foolish. I must be aware of the fact that once you send your bitcoins to someone by mistake then it’s like next to impossible to get them back unless that person wants to whom you sent bitcoin. Seriously I think it was your that to whom you sent bitcoin was in your contact list and now you can get them back but u should be very much cautious while transacting your bitcoins because it is very difficult to recover them and moreover you can’t do police complaint even.
